Life of an Etherean, by MARO It was October 4th, 2024. My daughter and I were in Korea celebrating my best friend’s wedding. She was nine years old at the time. One evening I got a DM from my wife, who was back home with our newborn son. Her CTO was urgently looking for an English-Chinese translator in their Global TG group. Anyone who knows me knows that when there’s a challenge no one else wants, I’m in. With almost zero knowledge of Web3, I happily said yes. Just one month earlier, a supercharged viral internet sensation had caught my eye. I first saw it on X, then everywhere—mainstream media, even Japanese outlets. I told my wife, “This is going to be something—maybe check it out on the memecoin side.” She’s been in this game way longer than me, the steady hand who never gets too high or too low. We make the perfect team. I sent her the link. She replied, “Yeah, I saw it too. It’s everywhere.” The sensation? A super-cute, feisty pygmy hippo from Thailand named Moo Deng. Before long, I was in a VC meeting for $Moodengeth, translating for leader Gangster Montana. Words like “airdrop,” “MM,” and “Multisig” were flying around and I had no clue what I was translating. Luckily the core message was simple: keep building and prepare for something HUGE. That part I could convey with confidence. The day I got back home from Korea, it happened. A #moodengeth CTO member got a reply from Vitalik on X: he had sold the 10 billion Moodeng tokens the community sent him and donated the proceeds to his biotech charity Kanro to fight airborne diseases. This was the moment everyone had been waiting for. By November, even bigger news dropped—Vitalik had visited Moo Deng in Thailand. Then, on December 26, 2024, Thailand’s Khao Kheow Open Zoo made it official: they named Vitalik the “adoptive father” of Moo Deng for the next two years. He donated 88 ETH to support her, her family, and zoo operations, with promises of more to come. At that point I was thinking: “I might actually be sipping Vodka-Coke with my wife in Bali next year… and I still won’t need to know what an airdrop or multisig is.” Well… not quite. The closest I got to sipping a Vodka-Coke in Bali with my wife was probably Vitalik rocking a Moo Deng shirt in Buenos Aires. Back to translator MARO duties. It was a quiet winter and spring for Moodeng in 2025. By then I was a full member of the @ETHMoodengCTO. I’m not really a social media guy, so I just posted whatever inspired me and went about my day—until June 18th. Mr. Xu @gongtongfuyudao, our OG of OGs, DMed me. He remembered I translated once for Gangster Montana, so he hit me up with a gig this time on X Spaces to translate for none other than Gangster himself. This time he gave me the talking points in advance. The audience was huge, but it went smooth. Regular Spaces, global charities, Moo Deng’s birthday coming up, the famous four-year crypto cycle just around the corner… we were ALL pumped. (Technically the only thing that actually pumped was my monthly gas bill.) And just like that, it was the last time we heard from Gangster Montana publicly. The weekly Spaces we all looked forward to never happened. But by then a lot of the CTO knew me through my translations and posts. I realized I had a voice—and after 10+ years in live streaming, it wasn’t something I had to learn from scratch. So I made a decision: the only way I’m getting to Bali is if I use this voice to bring the whole Moodeng ETH community together. Before long I was hosting Spaces every single day. We sang, we laughed, we talked, and the FOMO followed suit. Even @HTX_Global's John (still one of the most genuine exchange people I’ve ever met) would pop in to sing the Moo Deng theme song with us. By this point I was in the Moodeng global admin group, fighting side-by-side with the whole CTO. Fast forward to May 2026—a year and a half since my first Web3 translation. The community isn’t just waiting for an ATH anymore. I am. The phone rings. It’s Mr. Xu again. He only calls when it’s something serious so I’m all ears. He has a proposition: an alliance with his new project $Wojak, with the goal of bringing meme street back to Ethereum home court. Within days, $Wojak donates to our multisig, we have our first ever Spaces together within days, and our joint charity event is taking place in a week. Moodeng x WOJAK Alliance is born. Two OG meme tokens from the Ethereum Blockchain grindin’ together. @ETHMoodengCTO and @w_o_j_a_k_CN, it’s only a matter of time people from the outside take SERIOUS NOTICE.
