Bangladesh, Pakistan, sub-Saharan Africa, the places where fertilizer costs directly determine whether crops get planted at all. Thank you for sharing this. I was happy to learn that men and women are held to the same standard in Islam. I did not know the meaning of Islam. Someday I would like to read the Qu’ran, to search for similarities and differences. I think differences arise from different historical contexts, as you suggested. The only main difference is that you see Jesus as a prophet, and we believe that God became Incarnate in the historical Jesus, that He died for us, and rose again, defeating death in the process. But we must remember that ultimately we worship the same One true God, so we shouldn’t fight and we shouldn’t feel enmity towards one another. God, our Father in Heaven, wants us to get along since we are all His children. This is something to pray for and strive for.

This is very beautiful, and I agree that modesty is part of faith, like purity, chastity, obedience. In the West, we would say that this applies also to men, not only to women. In the Bible, we are told that women must obey their husbands, but men must love their wives and give up their lives for them as Christ did for the Church. I think our Western concept of equality between men and women comes from this Biblical teaching.
I think our beliefs on modesty and chastity (in Islam and Christianity) are similar, but we interpret them and live them out a little differently. Pope John Paul II once said that if we all go deeply into our own religion and look down into the well of faith, at the bottom of this well of faith, we will find the same one true God—the God of Abraham that we all believe in, which makes us all brothers and sisters. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are all Abrahamic religions, like branches of the same tree.

I love modesty, but I don’t need to cover my entire body and face to be modest; there is a middle ground between extremes. It’s fun to wear clothes that are pretty, but modest, and to feel the sun and breeze on my face, which are gifts from God. As for freedom, I think true freedom comes from God, who helps us master our own harmful impulses so we can love others and ourselves and bring light and goodness into the world. The ultimate freedom comes from loving—loving ourselves, loving others, and loving God. God is Love, says the Gospel of John. Christ told us not to judge others and to leave judgment to Him; everyone has their own struggles in life. I feel compassion for the Epstein folks who were seeking to fill their own emptiness in wrong ways because they had not learned that the human heart will never rest until it rests in God. God asks us not to judge, but to leave judgment to Him; our job is to love and forgive, so we can co-exist in peace and harmony like brothers and sisters. I feel so free when I have overcome the impulse to judge my fellow humans and go about the business of cultivating my own garden, as Voltaire said.

Thank you for your comment. I agree with you that not fearing death is true freedom. But life is also a gift from God, so we have the obligation to evaluate the cause for which we are giving up our life. Who are we dying for and for what? Is “death to Israel” and “death to America” a worthy cause? God wants us to live peacefully together and to love one another, including our enemies. Because the idea of an enemy is a human illusion, since we are all brothers and sisters as children of God.

A ballistic missile reaching Diego Garcia suggests something in the neighborhood of 4,000 kilometers, which pushes it out of the medium-range category and into the intermediate-range class (IRBM). That is a strategic leap.
The real story is not whether the missile was intercepted. It is that Iran may have demonstrated reach far beyond what much of the world believed it possessed. A 4,000-kilometer capability changes the map. Major European capitals begin to enter the conversation. Paris comes into range. London moves much closer to the edge of vulnerability depending on launch point and payload. This would mean the missile threat is no longer confined to the Gulf, Israel, or parts of South Asia. That is what Banks collected in last 3 years just for not maintaining ‘Minimum Account Balance.’
Not from the rich. Not from big borrowers.
From the poorest accounts in the system.
Their crime? They didn’t have enough money.
A farmer misses the minimum balance - Penalty.
A pensioner withdraws money for medicine - Penalty.
A daily wage worker falls short by a few hundred rupees - Penalty.
The poor keep money in banks for safety. Not to be quietly fined for being poor.
Financial inclusion should protect small savings, not punish small balances.
In Parliament today I proposed ending minimum balance penalties so the banking system stops charging people for their poverty.

@PiyushIASMentor @lssekar @raghav_chadha If millions of accounts are a cost, then millions of deposit holders are also millions of revenue sources. Banks use public money to generate profit every day. Asking poor people to pay for simply keeping an account active defeats the purpose of financial inclusion.
