You can care deeply about your patients AND expect to be paid for your skill, your years of training, and the weight you carry every day. There's no shame in that. There never should have been.

Like wanting to be paid fairly makes the calling less pure. It doesn't. A doctor who's exhausted, underpaid, and stretched thin isn't serving patients better , they're just closer to burning out.

It's okay for doctors to earn a living. Medicine is a calling, yes. But it's also a profession. Those two things aren't in conflict. They're supposed to work together.
