Happy Memorial Day from the Myrtle Beach International Film Festival! Today we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Because of their courage, we get to gather on these beautiful South Carolina beaches, tell powerful stories, and celebrate the magic of cinema that brings us all together. We’re grateful, we’re proud, and we’re feeling extra inspired this weekend. Whether you’re watching a film with family, soaking up the sun, or planning your next movie night — thank you for keeping the spirit of freedom alive. Wishing you a joyful, safe, and meaningful Memorial Day! #MemorialDay #MBIFF #MyrtleBeach #FilmFestival #HonorAndRemember #FreedomToCreate #SouthCarolina

Film Thought of the Day: Shooting for the big screen versus television and social media isn’t just about budget, it’s about how the story looks and feels. On the big screen, filmmakers traditionally embrace 24fps for that dreamy, cinematic motion. The slightly lower frame rate gives movement a smoother more life like feel. Wider shooting formats like 2.39:1 scope or even go Cinescope to fill the massive canvas and pull the audience into the world. For TV/streaming, the rhythm often shifts. Many shows shoot at 23.98fps or 29.97fps, and the 16:9 or 1.78:1 frame feels more tightly boxed and immediate, perfect for close-ups, fast cuts and dialogue-driven storytelling that lives on smaller screens and phones. The format and frame rate you choose isn’t only technical, it’s also emotional. It tells the audience what kind of experience they’re in for before the story even begins. If you are shooting for the big screen consider 23.98 or 24p. If you are shooting for the smaller screen with a lot of action consider 29.97 or 30p or even 59.97 or 60p for that crisper hyper realism. Film in the frame and format that is designed for the proper output with the look and feel you are going for. Submissions are now open for the 22nd Myrtle Beach International Film Festival! Whether your film was made for theaters or living rooms, we want to see it. Submit today #mbiff #myrtlebeach #FilmFestival #Filmmaking #Cinematic #MyrtleBeachFilmFest #SouthCarolina

Yesterday was a busy day at sea off the shores of Myrtle Beach, SC! This impressive vessel is the Cape Hatteras, a 99-foot Multi-Cat dredge support vessel built in 2023. The beach nourishment project is rolling right along. We’re also gearing up for submissions to the 22nd Myrtle Beach International Film Festival! We want to see your work! #MBIFF #myrtlebeach #southcarolina #film

Happy Mother's Day from the Myrtle Beach International Film Festival! To all the incredible moms who inspire us every day! Whether you're the one holding the camera, stealing scenes on screen, or cheering from the front row — today we celebrate you. As South Carolina’s longest-running film festival, we know a thing or two about stars… and the brightest ones are often called “Mom.” This year, mothers are stealing the show in every sense — on screen and off. Thank you for the love, the laughter, the late-night story times, and the endless support that makes every great story possible. Wishing you a beautiful Mother’s Day filled with joy, hugs, and maybe a little popcorn. With gratitude and admiration, The Myrtle Beach International Film Festival South Carolina’s Longest Running Film Festival #MBIFF #myrtlebeach #SouthCarolina #mothersday #films

3am studio break… Stepped outside for some fresh air and was completely stopped in my tracks by this beautiful moon looking down on us. So bright, so still, like a quiet reminder that the world keeps turning and the creative spark never really goes out. Wishing everyone a little more peace in the chaos, and a whole lot more creativity in the quiet hours. Keep making things. Keep dreaming. The night (and the moon) has your back. #MBIFF #myrtlebeach #films #MoonlitMoments #CreateOn #GoodnightWorld

Morning fuel, beach vibes, and award-winning brews — that’s the New South way! One of the oldest and most decorated breweries in South Carolina, New South Brewing in Myrtle Beach has been crafting legendary beers since 1998. Everyone’s had their award-winning brews… but have you tried their coffee? Whether it’s that rich, locally roasted blend kicking off your day or a smooth pour after sunset, New South keeps the locals going morning and night. And speaking of passion projects — the Myrtle Beach International Film Festival, the longest-running film festival in South Carolina, runs on New South coffee! These great folks have been longtime supporters of the arts and the MBIFF, proving they’re not just about great beer and coffee… they’re about community and creativity too. No trip to Myrtle Beach is complete without a visit to New South Brewing. Swing by, grab a bag of beans (or a growler), and drink what the locals drink! Who’s stopping in this week? #NewSouthBrewing #MyrtleBeach #SouthCarolinaBrewery #MBIFF #DrinkLocal #MyrtleBeachCoffee #SupportTheArts

Rest in Peace, Ted Turner (1938–2026) The Myrtle Beach International Film Festival mourns the passing of media legend Ted Turner at age 87. The visionary behind CNN and Turner Classic Movies transformed how we experience news and film. A passionate champion of cinema who preserved classic movies for generations, he was also a generous mentor to many in the industry. Thank you for your bold legacy. #TedTurner #TurnerClassicMovies #MBIFF Photo courtesy of CNN
