A look back at 15 times the NDP failed Manitobans in 2024 ⬇️🧵 15. The NDP suddenly, without notice, yank rent support from hundreds of Manitobans on the brink of homelessness. And Wab Kinew pretends not to know about it. #mbpoli

MLA Cindy Lamoureux’s bill will improve the quality of life for thousands of Manitobans through meaningful, inclusive, and accessible support. It’s disappointing but unsurprising to know that Accessibilities Minister Nahanni Fontaine would not support this bill, despite her title. The Kinew NDP voted this legislation down on Tuesday. Their mind only changed when we called for them to put their “no” vote on the official record for everyone to see. The autism community deserves so much more than these cheap political games. But I’m thankful that MLAs, families, advocates, and Manitobans raised their voice. Our PC team is proud to support this important bipartisan legislation.
Manitoba PC Caucus@MBPCcaucus

After the Kinew government initially voted no, Progressive Conservatives are proud to have successfully helped push forward a bipartisan bill to establish Manitoba’s first-ever autism strategy! Bill 232, introduced by MLA Cindy Lamoureux, would require the government to develop a provincial autism strategy, whose progress would be tracked through annual reports and would be updated every 5 years. “The needs of Manitobans with autism and their families deserve to be taken seriously,” said Opposition Leader @obbykhan60. On Tuesday, the NDP voted the bill down because, according to Accessibilities Minister Nahanni Fontaine, “we don’t need legislation” as the work is already being done—which Autism Manitoba says is news to them. On Wednesday, Fontaine flipped her position following public backlash. “With legislation comes accountability and public input, which the minister does not want,” said Khan. “Had MLA Lamoureux and PCs not called for a recorded vote this morning, and had advocates not raised their voices over the last two days, the NDP were ready to let this bill die.” According to @AllianceAutism, between one and two children in every Manitoba classroom have been diagnosed with autism. “Children are at a crucial developmental stage during school years, and Bill 232 would ensure that students with autism are not just accommodated, but truly supported in reaching their full potential during these formative years,” said PC Education & Early Childhood Learning Critic @WayneEwaskoMLA. “As a teacher and guidance counsellor of two decades, I know when neurodivergent students and their families are meaningfully supported and included in the classroom, it makes all the difference.”

Follow the money. The construction industry is calling for an investigation into Wab Kinew's new slush fund. The backroom "Manitoba Jobs Agreement" allows the NDP to skim off the top of public projects with a hidden fee and grease the palms of their political friends. The MJA charges existing contractors $0.85 per hour for each worker on public projects. So, four new schools being built under the agreement is costing taxpayers $1 million of this NDP-mandated fee. Those fees then go to Kinew's friends at Manitoba Building Trades—a group of unions that's been taking out NDP-friendly ads. Now three leading construction orgs—@ManitobaHeavy, @ConstructionARM, and the Winnipeg Construction Association—are asking the Auditor General to investigate the MJA, pointing to “potentially millions of dollars diverted from public investment with zero transparency.”

BREAKING: Since 2023, Winnipeg families have seen their school property taxes hike by over 40%. The City of Winnipeg released figures today showing an alarming cumulative increase in education property tax rates from 2023 to 2026. Without limits on education property tax increases, NDP underfunding is forcing school boards to raise their rates, leaving homeowners to pay the price. But Wab Kinew and his NDP removed all the guardrails to protect homeowners — cancelling PCs’ 50% School Tax Rebate and removing school division caps on tax increases. Kinew’s NDP are making life unaffordable for Winnipeggers and all Manitobans.

This graph comes straight from Stats Canada… Figures released just yesterday show that school taxes SKYROCKETED 20% across the province between 2025 and 2026. Canada’s average: 5.6%. Wab Kinew removed all the guardrails to protect homeowners — cancelling PCs’ 50% School Tax Rebate and removing school division caps on tax increases. It’s clear that NDP tax hikes are driving Manitoba’s affordability crisis. “The StatCan graph should be an embarrassing reality check for the NDP,” said PC Finance Critic @Stone_Midland. “It shows how far Manitoba has fallen out of step with the rest of Canada.” 🔗: pcmbcaucus.com/2026/03/pcs-wa…

BREAKING: Wab Kinew’s new supervised consumption site will not turn down pregnant women, youth, or first-time drug users, according to its own intake forms. Recently obtained documents reveal the extent of the NDP’s plans to normalize drug use and enable first-time users through his supervised consumption site. The Participant Visitor Form lists 40 different hard drugs and has a checklist for if the visitor is pregnant, a youth, or a first-time user. The Release of Liability Form allows users who are “unable” to inject drugs into themselves to be injected by someone else (a practice called “doctoring”) and waives liability for the operators of Kinew’s consumption site. Another form states that the site will not ask people for ID or their health card. And the Youth Intake Form is available for children aged 16 and younger. The NDP’s drug consumption site will introduce, sustain, and prolong addictions for hundreds of Manitobans. Manitoba has to abandon this approach of “harm reduction” and focus on treatment and recovery models. @JeffBereza 🔗 Forms available to view here: pcmbcaucus.com/2026/03/consum…

Manitoba is stronger when we encourage, invest in, and support women and girls. I am so proud to be part of a team with incredible women who lead by example—powerfully, decidedly, and sincerely. Thank you MLAs Jodie Byram, Kathleen Cook, Carrie Hiebert, Colleen Robbins, and Lauren Stone. And thank you to all of the amazing women and girls who make our homes, our province, our country, and our world a better place to be. #InternationalWomensDay

Today and every day, Progressive Conservatives are working to foster the conditions and opportunities for Manitoba women to succeed. 🔬 That means ensuring women and girls have access to education and pathways into high-demand careers. It’s why Advanced Education & Immigration Critic Carrie Hiebert is standing up for skills training to empower women in STEM, construction, healthcare, and much more. 🍼 That means ensuring life is affordable for young mothers. It’s why Finance Critic Lauren Stone (@Stone_Midland) continues to fight for reducing the tax burden on Manitobans to make it easier to live and raise a family. 🏥 That means ensuring better health outcomes for women. It’s why Health Critic Kathleen Cook introduced her bill to reduce the breast cancer screening age, and introduced “Debbie’s Law” to ensure Manitobans receive timely care. 💙 That means protecting the safety of women and girls. It’s why Families Critic Jodie Byram continues to stand up for vulnerable Manitobans at risk of intimate partner violence or falling through the child welfare system. It’s also why PCs passed Clare’s Law in 2022, and why MLA Richard Perchotte has introduced anti-stalking legislation. 💪 That means fostering leadership at every level, in every corner of the province. It’s why PCs were proud to recently gain Spruce Woods MLA Colleen Robbins on our PC team, who continues to stand up and advocate for women in Westman and rural Manitoba. We recognize and celebrate all of the amazing women of Manitoba whose leadership, service, and determination strengthen our province every single day. From our PC Caucus to you, happy #InternationalWomensDay#IWD2026

Manitobans need leadership, not more excuses. 2.5 years ago, the Kinew NDP promised to “fix” healthcare. 2.5 years later, healthcare is objectively worse by every metric. ER wait times are the HIGHEST they’ve ever been. PCs have even offered to work with the government to find solutions, and have urged for a public inquiry to find solutions. Manitoba families can’t afford Minister Uzoma Asagwara’s continued refusal to take accountability. 👤: MLA Kathleen Cook, PC Critic for Health #mbpoli

Manitobans are tired of losing an hour of sleep and gaining nothing in return. ⏰ As Manitoba prepares for #DaylightSavings this Sunday, Springfield-Ritchot MLA Ron Schuler has introduced Bill 214 to end the outdated and disruptive practice of seasonal time changes. The movement is bi-partisan: 🕑 British Columbia’s NDP government has announced that this will be BC’s last year of “springing forward.” 🕑 Alberta is looking to follow suit. 🕑 Saskatchewan is already on a year-round daylight time. 🕑 The Yukon has also adopted a year-round standard. “There has never been a more advantageous time to make this change,” said Schuler. If passed, the province will move to permanent daylight time effective Mar. 14, 2027. That means Manitoba will always be 1 hour ahead of Saskatchewan and 2 hours ahead of BC year round. Until Ontario also makes the switch, cities like Toronto and Ottawa would be one hour ahead of Winnipeg in the summer and the same time in the winter. Under current legislation, Manitoba’s move depends on neighbouring jurisdictions making the same change. But Schuler’s amendments would remove that barrier, allowing Manitoba to lead instead of waiting for others to act. “When I introduced this bill last year, which would’ve been effective as of this Sunday, the Kinew government did not support it,” said Schuler. “Hopefully with the bipartisan adoption in the rest of Western Canada, Manitoba can finally leave this outdated practice in the past.” 🔗: pcmbcaucus.com/2026/03/its-ti… #mbpoli #bcpoli

The proclamation of Clare’s Law also follows the recent 2-year anniversary of the brutal slaying of a teenage girl in her foster home. Myah-Lee Gratton was killed allegedly by her cousin’s boyfriend out on bail. At the time, Minister Nahanni Fontaine insisted that a report into CFS’s inaction would be released by April 2024. No such report has been released to the public to date. “Taking action against domestic violence, and against the MMIWG crisis, demands the government accepting accountability, identifying what needs to change, implementing solutions, and being transparent with Manitobans about that process,” said PC Families Critic Jodie Byram. 4/5 x.com/mbpccaucus/sta…
