So sad to see people who have not found any purpose in life except for money. This influencer culture is poisoning the future. If someone offered me $10mil today to give up medicine, healing, my patients and a fulfilling life I would reject the offer. Being able to help my cancer patients and all others, being able to teach and do science are the great blessings and privileges of my life. Luckily, our specialty affords us a good life. And yes, to an extent $ is important and helpful. But if you love what you do, you don’t have to work another day in your life. Making money the purpose is sad. I hope this human being (I think he is still young!) finds true passion and profession that allows him to feel what I experience. B’H.

Saw a patient who was DNR, but quite young….asking him why, he kept saying, “they just want to leave me to die, so I don’t want to live.” Turns out “they” was his lack of insurance, and “I don’t want to live” was not wanting to live a life without the treatment he needed for his chronic disease. When I informed him he qualified for our county-based insurance which would allow him to get treatment…he immediately changed to full code. This was the first time I’ve seen code status dependent on insurance status… Smh, what has #healthcare come to.
