Very sad news today: Kathy Wilbur, a fixture in the Capitol community spanning the past 5 decades, died this morning. She was 70 and had sudden recurrence of cancer. A friend and mentor to many during her work in the legislative and executive branches and 20+ years in higher ed.

Ask them what their children are doing. They aren’t getting “skills badges” on a “learning record.” They are going to fancy colleges just like their parents. If it’s good enough for you…and your kids…why not everybody else?

Data shows college is a good decision. Grads will make more $, be more hirable & build assets & wealth. That doesn’t make other pathways bad, but we can’t just will them to be better. And these remarks mostly come from white people w/ fancy college degrees making six figures.
