In 1989 the then-known "Veterans Administration" gained a Cabinet Secretary and became the Department of Veterans Affairs. Now with 1,298 health care facilities, 56 regional benefits offices and 135 national cemeteries, we are proud that millions of Veterans choose VA every day.

On Jan. 31 1968, Lt. Col. Robert C. Knight earned the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions as an aircraft commander and leader of an assault helicopter platoon against an enemy offensive on Soc Trang, South Vietnam. He is buried in Section 59. We honor his service.

VA is increasing compensation payment rates based on the latest cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) announcement. Beginning Jan. 1, 2023, Veterans and beneficiaries who receive VA compensation benefits will see an 8.7% increase in their monthly payments. bit.ly/3hrBHNj
