The entire case needs to be thrown out and @LodgePokerATX needs to file a “Takings” lawsuit against the State of Texas. The probable cause was based on an “anonymous tip” coupled with undercover work by agents who clearly don’t understand how poker clubs are operated. They claim no one told them they had to have a membership and there was no signage stating it either. The UC’s (1) did purchase memberships and (2) don’t understand that when a player sits at a table - they must swipe a players card which links to a tablet on each table that shows how much time each player has. If a player doesn’t have a membership or purchased time - the dealer won’t let them play. When time runs low, the player is alerted to buy more time or to leave. The bank account records show no proof of illicit activity - a club the size of the Lodge operating 24/7 is easily clearing $75,000 - $100,000 per day in gross revenue for membership and time. They have 68 nine-seat tables charging $12/hr per player per hour. On a busy day, they can be making $7,500/hr in revenue. Evidence of $1.35 million in bank transfers is simply a business transferring money in the ordinary course of daily business. There is nothing at all that hints at illicit activity - certainly not money laundering. Even if this lead to charges and an indictment - the bank records should be thrown out of evidence based on the probable cause to subpoena them being improper. The Lodge should file a lawsuit and Doug should personally sue for damages to his reputation. If they don’t want poker clubs, they need to go to Austin and get the legislatures to change the laws. They have no right to manipulate the law to try to chase poker clubs out of Texas.

WRONG. The loophole wasn't created by the state — Doug created it. Texas law prohibits gambling for profit, so he structured the rake as a "membership fee" and "time charges" specifically to circumvent that. The state didn't write a law saying "charge a membership fee and you can run a poker room" — Doug's lawyers engineered that structure to exploit the gap. There's a difference between a law having an unintended loophole and someone deliberately constructing a business model designed from day one to skirt the law. That's exactly what's being investigated right now — whether the structure was legitimate or manufactured to avoid prosecution. The fact that the IRS is involved alongside TABC suggests they think it's the latter.

I have read Search and Seizure Warrant against The Lodge in full, and it does appear to be a witch hunt. Essentially, they're deeming poker in TX illegal and therefore classifying what we'd consider normal banking transactions as money laundering because it's proceeds from what they say is illegal gambling. All the undercover operations outlined in the affidavit describe a normally functioning, well-run poker room. To me, nothing in it suggests what we in the poker world would consider scandalous/nefarious, but rather authorities simply taking a stance on the grey area/loophole that they consider illegal. If the TABC ultimately prevails that poker at The Lodge constitutes illegal gambling, it’ll shut down every room in TX. More on @PokerNews here 👇 pokernews.com/news/2026/03/t…

@TheFitnessJurk @BB2198 I’m 100% with you. Last year was my last staying on property. I will be in an Airbnb from now on. Getting a room would certainly be nice. I’ll do that right after I win a bracelet.

@BB2198 I think it’s the nut setup if you can swing it. Staying in a hotel room at Paris or Horseshoe would have me going stir crazy after a week.

More poker players should stay off property in an AirBnb and then chop a room at Horseshoe/Paris with a friend or two and use it as a break lounge. On demand toilet, beds for naps (or cuddles), snack stash. If you finish late and have a too early restart, crash there.

I have personally guaranteed that all player funds will be safe as this witch hunt from TABC plays out You still allegedly owe tens of millions. Shut the fuck up
Tom Dwan@TomDwan

@DougPolkVids You made a lot of your brand out of going after people in times like this. I hope you can take a minute to reflect, and realize the negatives of some of those choices. Hope you do stuff like that less in the future.

@WPT Who cares. If someone wants to punt off their chips by “straddling” UTG, let em I say. Variance is way too high in tournament poker to participate in nonsense like that.

I don’t play @ACR_POKER very often but after 10 buyins today, I’m convinced this app is programmed to suck out by worst hands consistently. Maybe it’s because they want bad players to continue to dump money on this site. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve certainly had my share of suck outs in my career. But the amount of times I get it in with the best hand and get turned or rivered by some ass hat with a shitty hand is beyond normal. I recognize that my sample size on ACR is small but I wouldn’t be posting this unless it were astonishing notable. As we speak I just got rivered again. Every bust out I’ve had today I was in ahead and busted to an inferior hand. That is a LOT of suck outs for one day. GG ACR. You’re keeping the fish in there. I won’t be back after today.
