Dublin City Council
Dublin City Council@DubCityCouncil·
Dublin City Council’s The LAB Gallery is delighted to announce Other Ground, a new exhibition by acclaimed artist Pascal Ungerer, curated by Margarita Cappock. The exhibition runs from 1st May to 5th June 2025, with the official opening on 1st May, 6–8pm, launched by Dawn Williams, Exhibitions Curator at Crawford Gallery Cork. Ungerer’s evocative paintings delve into the tension and interplay between built environments and the natural world, exploring liminal spaces and the ‘edgelands’ where urban and rural meet. His fictional landscapes, inspired by real locations, reflect on themes such as ecological change, peripherality, and the shifting boundaries of human habitation. Join us at The LAB Gallery, Foley Street, Dublin 1 @LabDCC, to experience this thought-provoking exhibition. Admission is free and all are welcome. The LAB Gallery, established by Dublin City Council in 2005, champions emerging art practices and offers a year-round programme of free events for all ages, supported by the Arts Council. #OtherGround #PascalUngerer #TheLABGallery #DublinCityArts #ArtExhibition #EmergingArtists #FreeEvent

We're always struck by how many of #maryannmccracken's descendants continue in her footsteps - from Sarah Cecilia Harrison, 1st female member of @DubCityCouncil, to @DrRitaMc, who visited us last week, & who continues Mary Ann's interest in public health & inequality. #Uppawomen

The Ireland Funds Monaco Bursaries strengthen Ireland’s rich literary tradition. Selected writers pursue a project during a one-month residency at the Princess Grace Irish Library (PGIL) in Monaco. The Ireland Funds extends its best wishes to the 2023 Academic Bursar, esteemed art historian, curator, and author Dr. Margarita Cappock, as she begins her month of research and writing at the PGIL. “I am delighted and honoured to be the recipient of The Ireland Funds Monaco Bursary. It is a privilege to have this unique opportunity to develop an aspect of my research on the Irish-born artist, Francis Bacon, who was a regular visitor to Monaco and lived there for a time.” – @MCappock
