Was going to say that The Misconceived is the first animated film that we have screened at MDFF Selects but after chatting with James today I learned that he does not consider it animation. Makes sense because I don't like animation but really admire this film.

RIP Alfie Radwanski (2009-25) star of Tower and Anne at 13,000 ft, a brindle longhaired whippet with the goofiest and sweetest temperament. Loved how audiences would notice this glance between Alfie and Derek. A brief unplanned moment that captures what a special guy he was.

When my first feature Tower got into Locarno we didn't have enough money for a sound mix and DCP so we raised money by making Blu-ray cases out of MDF wood. I found this old video of Dan and I making them by hand at my uncle's shop.

We used to get asked a lot why we’re called @MDFF or Medium Density Fibreboard Films. The short answer is I was building a lot of built-in cabinets out of MDF when I came up with the idea to start our own production company. But I made this rad cover out of plywood and pine.

Proud that @MDFF is hosting the Toronto premiere of #5 on the Cahiers list later this month. We're screening Pedro Pinho's Le Rire et le Couteau (I Only Rest in the Storm) on Dec 18th at @TIFF_NET. We also hosted the Toronto premiere of #1 on this list this past August.

Our screening is timely because Videoheaven was edited by @FlyedCollie who's a programmer for @Criterion. He curated the 80's Horror series which is for my money the gold standard of October programming. I look back to it every year around this time when deciding what to watch.

There are a surprising number of Canadian films featured in Videoheaven but also a lot of American movies that were shot on location at Toronto video stores. Most importantly it features a clip of Loser shot at Re:vue Video on the Danforth where I used to work in high school.
