Persons who hear a lie repeated over and over come to believe they have seen evidence for that lie. They believe to their core that the lie has been proven to them. This perverse consequence of repetition has been known for more than two centuries, and reportedly was considered by Napoleon to be the only important factor in persuasion. This is why it is so difficult to counter an endlessly repeated lie with a single response. While persons who have accepted such a lie think they have seen proof, they can't put their finger on what that proof was, and so have a difficult time going into a dialog about it. As a result, such people find it difficult to think past the falsehoods they have embraced. Discussion is the tool we have to move past this, and discussion must be done in a focused way to be effective. I put together the steps and guidelines for focused discussion that I have found to be effective over years of interaction with persons who have accepted falsehoods. The steps are the actions we take in carrying out the discussion, and guidelines are the rules that keep the discussion orderly and productive. If we apply these steps and guidelines when conducting a focused discussion with others, we can resolve the tangled snarl of lies that has made our society so polarized. These steps and guidelines are described in chapter 12 of my book, The Reverse Pinocchio Effect. If it would be useful to describe these steps and guidelines in posts on X, I can begin a discussion here of what those steps and guidelines are and how they are applied. Our society has become highly partisan due to the dissemination of lies that have been accepted as true without proof. We can resolve this, and we can do so very easily, but only if we all understand how to engage in a productive discussion with others in addressing these lies.

Today, a federal court heard arguments in the government's appeal of my case against Pete Hegseth. It was a day in court not just for me, but for millions of retired veterans and our First Amendment rights. I will not back down from this fight.

Remember that $250M "Somali fraud" case in Minnesota? Turns out the entire scheme was orchestrated by an American-born White woman, Aimee Bock. Prosecutors showed she built the playbook, coached the sites on how to invent data, and then used the Somali community as a "racial shield" to sue the state and stop them from investigating. She made them the face of the "charity" while she managed the looting. Aimee Bock is set for sentencing later this month, May 21, 2026. Give her the maximum.

EXCLUSIVE: In 2022, a grand jury investigated Trump’s alleged interference in the 2020 election. It heard from more than 60 witnesses. For years, the full record of what those witnesses said under oath has remained hidden from public view. The “corrupted” framing lands, but the specific details beneath it are what make it stick. Federal judges have accused DOJ officials of dishonesty so many times since January 2025 that Smith described it as “difficult to track.” That’s not a talking point. That’s a judicial paper trail accumulating in real time. In Minnesota, after an immigration agent shot and killed an unarmed woman during a protest, Bondi and Patel didn’t investigate the agent. They directed federal officials to find links between the dead woman and left-wing domestic terrorist groups. Smith said he had never seen a department willing to do that. And the person now deciding whether to prosecute Smith for his work as special counsel is Todd Blanche - Trump’s personal defense attorney in the exact cases Smith built. No recusal. No acknowledgment that this is a problem. Just Blanche with charging authority over the man who indicted his client. Smith thinks prosecution is likely. He says he’s unfazed. Given who holds the lever, that assessment reads as clear-eyed, not defiant.

Jack Smith says the Justice Department has been "corrupted" by Trump loyalists demolishing its credibility and seeking to undermine the rule of law. "We have a Department of Justice today that targets people for criminal prosecution simply because the president doesn't like them." nytimes.com/2026/05/06/us/…

Elon Musk called Hitler a socialist then Grok correctly debunks him by pointing out Hitler rejected Marxism and ran a fascist system that prioritized nationalism and private enterprise. Grok then explains socialism is class equality and worker ownership! Never deleting this app.

WOW "SCOTUS USED FAKE DATA AND THE MEDIA WENT CRICKETS." I don't know why more people aren't talking about this. Republicans are trying to bury it as fast as they can. Sam Alito didn't just gut the Voting Rights Act. He built the opinion on fake data from Trump's DOJ. The lie? Black voter turnout beat white turnout in 2 of 5 recent presidential elections in Louisiana. The media? Silent. Go figure. Confirmed sources caught it: Alito used a rigged formula counting non-citizens and felons as "eligible voters" to juice the numbers. Real data? Black turnout only exceeded white in one election: 2012. Expert Michael McDonald: "They had to fudge how they're calculating the turnout rate... Someone knew what they were doing." Who else signed their name to a Supreme Court opinion built on cooked books? All six conservatives: Roberts, Thomas, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, Barrett. Not one fact-check. Not one care. They didn't interpret law—they fabricated facts to kill a civil rights law Black people bled for. And the media barely blinked. A Supreme Court justice using fake data to destroy voting rights should be an all-timer scandal. But it's 2026, so it's just Thursday. THE GOP IS THE BIGGEST PONZI SCAM IN HISTORY. Y'all wanted a colorblind society? Start by being blind to the lies your side tells.

No surprise. After Trump failed to reimburse Florida for Alligator Alcatraz, the state is now moving to shut it down. Nearly a billion dollars of taxpayer money. Inhumane conditions. Environmental travesty. Ron DeSantis built this. Branded it. Gave no bid contracts to his buddies. Threw a party to celebrate it. Now he wants to quietly shut it down and hope no one notices. We notice. And every official who let it happen will answer for it.

@HamSolo26157584 @HelenPoznanski I think you're mistaking my position. The bullets were real and Comperatore definitely died. Trump's making a big deal out of his minor scratch was just Trump trying to get as much sympathy as he could get out of it. What do you think I'm missing here?

There is a claim going around that the attempted assassination of Trump was a staged PR caper rather than a genuine assassination attempt. This claim is utter nonsense. The following is a summary of some of the key points a person has to accept in order to believe this conspiracy theory: 1. Trump and/or his team went out and found a Republican patsy to sneak in to his speaking location and fire bullets at Trump, but to not hit him, in order to create a PR benefit of being able to claim an assassination attempt was made on his life. 2. Trump and/or his team went over to the Secret Service detail and got them to sign on to murdering the Republican patsy to silence him--a conspiracy to commit murder--so that Trump could pull off this PR caper. 3. The Secret Service agreed to let the patsy get off some shots at Trump and others in that area, including letting the patsy shoot at their own agents, before killing him, so Trump could pull off the PR caper. 4. Trump and/or his team were confident that this patsy was a good enough shot that his bullets might get close to Trump but wouldn't kill him, and so were willing to let Trump stand in the line of fire. 5. Someone else was likely to be hit by the patsy, and in fact was, so this caper involves a conspiracy to commit a second murder. 6. Trump and/or his team got the local police in on it too so they wouldn't stop or arrest the patsy, which would have derailed the PR caper and could have blown the whole thing wide open. 7. All of the logistics of arranging the attack, including finding and recruiting the patsy to stage the attempted assassination, were executed with such extraordinary secrecy and precision that no evidence of any of it remains. Anyone who considers the above to be plausible might be willing to believe just about anything. There are several chapters in my book that deal with how people come to accept such nonsense, which I can describe on X if people are curious. The simple truth is that the shooter was exactly what he appears to be--an unhinged lone actor who got as far as he did because of errors on the part of the security team. Let's not complicate it with outlandish conspiracy theories that only make people more susceptible to believing the lies of a propagandist.

Ever heard of paleoclimatology? Ice cores give us 800,000 years of temperature and CO2 data. Ocean sediments go back millions. Tree rings, coral skeletons, cave formations - scientists have been reading Earth's climate history like a book for decades. The hottest year on record is not a claim built on 155 years of weather stations. It is built on evidence that predates the human species by a considerable margin. Also…NASA, NOAA, Berkeley Earth, the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts and the Japan Meteorological Agency all reached the same conclusion independently. Five separate institutions. Zero of them are Al Gore. But thanks for the automobile reference. Really devastating stuff.
Jim Trakas@JimTrakas

@ChrisGloninger @epaleezeldin The National Weather Service only started recording weather data in 1870, so the "hottest year on record" doesn't go back any further than a decade before the automobile was invented. How do you account for Gore et al's inaccurate predictions?

We are here because people didn't fully understand why their votes counted. Why sitting out elections has consequences, and how voting based on excitement is harmful. Now here we are, with not only a conservative Supreme Court, but a Supreme Court hell-bent on taking away progress. Voting Rights Act ensured that Black people had a voice. That we were represented. The Supreme Court has limited it. This does not mean stop voting. It means that we have to register more people to vote, we have to overwhelm the system. #DemsUnited
