During research for my next book about #TheWomen, I spent a day going through #RosalindRussell's collection at #UCLA. A favorite find: A $0.10 check to Columbia Pictures for a phone call Russell made from the studio in 1942. 😏 #TCMParty #nextbook

@MDW23 Don't remember anything about this in the production log, but it could have had something to do with the heaviness of Russell's accent, which was an issue throughout.

@agmacor Cool! DVR set. When it comes to such seasonal films, I always like to recommend “Dead of Night” (1945) as one of my favorites since I was a kid. TCM has shown it in the past but I don’t see it this year.

In his memoir "Victory in My Hands," #HaroldRussell writes about taking piano lessons from co-star #HoagyCarmichael for #TheBestYearsofOurLives. Director #WilliamWyler put the kibosh on Carmichael's acting tips, though, wanting to preserve Russell's naturalness. #TCMParty

On #TCM tonight! Excited to watch this new French documentary about #WilliamWyler with archival photos and super 8 footage from the Wyler family collection. I was given access to some of that collection for my book about #TheBestYearsOfOurLives, and it’s impressive. #TCMParty

@cliche_mist @agmacor Al is indeed the funny one. Bursting into Butch’s and introducing his two new friends by reversing their names. Showering with his pajamas on. Mixing his Bromo and first drinking from the empty glass.

@agmacor The funniest bit is when Al drops his army boots out the window.

The closest #TheBestYearsofOurLives comes to slapstick is the scene where #MyrnaLoy changes the drunken #FredricMarch into pajamas on his first night home. #TCMParty #Veterans

William Wyler recalled that on #TheBestYearsofOurLives during a take for the scene where #FredricMarch mixes a Bromo-Seltzer using two glasses, March drank from the empty glass by accident. His reaction was so authentic--and amusing--they kept it in. #TCMParty #Deepfocus
