🚨 OFFICIAL: FC Barcelona complaint to UEFA. “Barcelona has submitted a complaint to UEFA regarding the refereeing performance in the Champions League quarter-final tie played against Atlético Madrid. The club considers that, across both legs of the tie, several refereeing decisions were made that did not comply with the Laws of the Game, resulting from an incorrect application of the regulations and a lack of appropriate intervention by the VAR system in incidents of clear significance. According to FC Barcelona, the accumulation of these errors had a direct impact on the course of the matches and on the final outcome of the tie, causing significant sporting and financial harm to the club. Through this complaint, the Club reiterates the requests previously made to UEFA and, at the same time, offers to collaborate with the organisation with the aim of improving the refereeing system to ensure a more rigorous, fair and transparent application of the Laws of the Game”.

FIFA have responded to this - and strongly. “We are quite surprised by the NJ Governor’s approach today on fan transportation. The original FIFA World Cup 2026 Host City Agreements signed in 2018 required free transportation for fans to all matches. Recognizing the financial strain this placed on the host cities, back in 2023 FIFA adjusted the Host Agreement requirements across all host cities as follows: All Match Ticket holders and accredited individuals shall be able to access transport (public or additionally planned transport) at cost to allow travel to Stadiums on match days.   “FIFA worked for years with host cities on transportation and mobility plans, including advocating for millions of dollars in federal funding to support host cities for transportation.   “FIFA World Cup will bring millions of fans to North America along with related economic impact. Many fans will travel to NYNJ to enjoy the eight matches scheduled. FIFA is not aware of any other major event previously held at NYNJ Stadium, including other major sports, global concert tours, etc., where organizers were required to pay for fan transportation.”

@Plettigoal Remarkable how many managers think the answer to problems caused by yellow & red cards is for the rules to be made more lenient.

If you make it this far as a centre-back with three yellow cards, you’ve actually done a good job, and still you can be suspended for the semi-finals. I think that’s quite harsh. There might even be a wrong decision in there, and then it’s almost impossible for a centre-back to avoid a suspension. I think this rule is too aggressive - maybe we’ll change it next year.” 🇧🇪

@StanCollymore All the teams in the battle are capable of winning at home so any of them could easily get another 10 pts but Spurs haven't won a game in 2026 so quite why you think they'll be getting 4 wins from their last 6 I don't know!

I'm calling 42 points to be absolutely safe with 40 the base to be "confident". That would mean Spurs having to win 4 of their final 6 games ( possible of course) to reach the higher limit or 50% of their matches to get to 39 points. Genuinely I'm shocked that the GAA have approved this, given their stance on "soccer" being played at Gaelic grounds and the constant battle between GAA clubs and Football clubs at local level. Brilliant to get to see this and in Croker, but of a wow moment. What a game to put on.
