I received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Professor Sonni Gwanle Tyoden, former Deputy Governor of Plateau State and a respected scholar.
Professor Tyoden was a man of deep intellect, unwavering integrity, and selfless service. As a former Vice Chancellor and seasoned administrator, he shaped minds, policies, and inspired generations. His legacy in academia, governance, and the pursuit of a united Plateau remains indelible.
On behalf of my family, the government, and the good people of Plateau State, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, the Mishkaham Mwaghavul, and the Mwaghavul Nation.
May God grant him eternal rest and comfort all who mourn.

I received with deep sorrow the news of the fire outbreak that occurred on Tuesday, 29th April 2025, destroying parts of the Terminus Market in Jos North, with goods worth millions lost.
My heart goes out to the affected traders. Your pain is mine, especially in these difficult economic times. Be assured, the government will not abandon you. We will take immediate steps to cushion the impact of this tragedy.
I appeal for calm and vigilance. Let us avoid actions that could threaten the peace and unity of our dear state. Parents and guardians must guide their children aright. Let’s stand together in solidarity. Together, we will overcome.

As part of my unwavering commitment to the progress of Plateau State and the collective strength of our great party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I joined my fellow PDP Governors at the Forum’s strategic meeting in Asaba, Delta State.
Under the leadership of our Chairman, Sen. Bala Mohammed, the meeting provided a platform to assess the state of our party, review development efforts across PDP-controlled states, and engage in constructive dialogue on the nation’s pressing economic and security challenges.
As leaders, we are deeply concerned about the economic hardship facing Nigerians due to certain macroeconomic policies of the Federal Government. We have therefore called for urgent reforms to ease the burden on our people and ensure policies that promote sustainable development and economic stability.
I am particularly encouraged by the collective commitment of my colleagues to implementing policies that prioritize the welfare of our citizens. Across PDP-governed states, we continue to deliver impactful projects in infrastructure, security, and economic empowerment, reaffirming our dedication to the people.
Security remains a major priority for our administration and the nation at large. While commending the relentless efforts of our security agencies, we also recognize the need for stronger interventions to combat emerging security threats posed by non-state actors. As leaders, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that enhance national security and protect our citizens.
I extend my heartfelt appreciation to our host, Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and the good people of Delta State, for their warm hospitality and for facilitating a highly successful meeting. His remarkable strides in infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and social development are commendable.
To the people of Plateau State and Nigerians at large, I want to assure you that despite the economic and security challenges we face, the PDP remains committed to restoring the prosperity, security, and unity our nation once enjoyed. We will continue to champion policies that uplift the standard of living, promote economic growth, and foster national cohesion.
Together, we will build a stronger, more prosperous Plateau State and Nigeria.
