24-hour warming centers are open for residents needing a safe, warm space during extreme cold weather: • Ed Rice Community Center (2935 North Watkins) • Orange Mound Community Center (2572 Park Ave) • Hickory Hill Community Center (3910 Ridgeway Rd)

As temperatures fluctuate, pipes and water mains can burst. Report water leaks inside homes and businesses as well as on the street to 901-528-4465 as soon as possible.
Drip faucets to protect pipes anytime temperatures are below 20 degrees for more than four hours. (Collect water in buckets from dripping faucets to use in case of an emergency or fill a bathtub. #MLGW recommends a three-day supply for drinking, cooking and flushing.)
MLGW’s water system is operating within the normal range. Crews are working around the clock to locate and repair water main breaks, which often occur in winter. (When the ground is frozen, the pipes contract. When the ground thaws, the pipes expand and burst.)
