Once they had built their dens last week it was fascinating to watch what they did inside them. They were all little home makers and the problem was actually getting them to leave the Forest Classroom 😂😂

Last week we learned about animal habitats, so we used our new skills for a den building challenge. Some children excelled with their team work and leadership skills (and some children were filthy 🫤). Excellent homes were made and they were quite competitive too 🤩

We learned that Badgers need to eat 200 worms every night, so we split into teams to try to see how many we could find 😅 It was nowhere near 200 but it was great fun and we put them back safely later 😀 🦡🪱

Thank you to Terry @CricketWales for showing our Y2s some excellent cricket skills. We will definitely have some future players after that 😁

We've replaced everyone's plastic bottles with reusable metal bottles, as we've been learning about reducing plastic. @BGFilmAcademy watching 'Life of a Plastic Cup' really helped us learn. Thank you #ProudofBG Ethical Elin's caring for the environment

We were lucky enough to receive a visit from @johnmewett this week and he taught us how to be litter champions. We love to learn about our environment, but now we know how to care for it too. Thank you #ProudofBG

We loved swapping our Forest Classroom for a Coastal Classroom today 😀 Thank you to @Coastal_Craig for being our knowledgeable guide and to Llew for making sure no items of packed lunch went to waste 😅 Can't wait to do it again 😀

We’ve been learning the importance of bees 🐝 so we’ve created Hydration Stations, so that they can have a drink and we’re in the process of starting a mini meadow, so they’ll have more flowers to visit 😊🌸🌻 Happy bee 🐝 Happy me 😀

We love a two banded longhorn beetle crashing our lesson 😀

We’ve been Mustelid experts this week 😀 We could find Weasels, Stoats, Polecats, Mink, Pine Martens, Otters and Badgers 🦡 We played Stoat & Rabbit hide and seek, where the stoats did their hypnotic dance and some rabbits got away 🙌

Our Nurture Nature lessons taught us what Herbivores 🐴, Omnivores🦊and Carnivores🐆like to eat. We learned a lot and it certainly felt good when we got the correct answers 🙌

Our Forest Classroom has seen so much action this week, it’s hard to include it all. There have been plenty of nature finds and I haven’t met a child yet that doesn’t love to blow a dandelion clock 😀

We’ve learned how we need to ‘dead head’ the daffodils so that they don’t take energy from the bulbs and they can build up their energy for next Spring. We also found some slugs eggs 😊

It was amazing to explore today and see how everything is in bloom 🌸 Amphibians have been our topic and it was great to have a run around for our true or false game. We are amphibian experts now so our resident newt and frog 🐸 are in good hands 🙌

What a brilliant morning🤩 We were delighted with our moth finds and successfully convinced the children that not all moths are brown and eat your jumpers 😅 We also identified our trees and conducted a sweep of the long grass 🐝🦋🪲🪰🐌@becky_eco_ed #STEMeducation
