very excited to see that @RepTedLieu & @RepTeresaLF have reintroduced legislation to create a 21st-Century Federal Writers' Project, reviving & extending the FWP's participatory, grassroots self-portrait of the USA - a crucial undertaking! lieu.house.gov/media-center/p…

Since I saw that clip of Oliver Anthony singing 'Rich Men North of Richmond', the ghost of Woody Guthrie has been whispering in my ear. So today I sat down and wrote this response youtube.com/watch?v=qGNFR7…

#OtD 1 May 1886, 300,000-500,000 workers went on strike and rallies were held throughout the United States, with the cry, "Eight-hour day with no cut in pay." This strike would lead to the Chicago Haymarket Affair and the start of May Day itself shop.workingclasshistory.com/en-gb/products…

40 years ago today I carried my trusty Arbiter guitar and Cube 60 amp into the demo studio in the offices of Chappell Music near Marble Arch and over three intense days recorded my debut album Life's A Riot. Lots of 40th anniversary fun planned over the next 12 months. Stay tuned

#OtD 18 Jan 1958 the Battle of Hayes Pond took place in NC when Native Americans routed a KKK rally. 500 Lumbee armed with shotguns and clubs attacked the white supremacist protest forcing them to flee, and celebrated by burning KKK banners and robes.
