This is the ANC I love and still pray for. What a sober political input. So much clarity, principle and conviction that speaks directly to the soul of this august liberation movement we call our political home. Sadly, many of these voices are no longer with us, nor does this kind of input still find resonance within sections of our leadership and broader membership, which is now so deeply fractured by factionalism. What remains, more often than not, is merely the shifting of musical chairs between whichever faction happens to be dominant at a particular moment. And any form of dissent or contra perspective outside the prevailing power bloc gets suppressed in the name of democratic centralism. Cry for our beloved movement. Papa Penny’s decision to join Mayibuye is, in my view, a politically risky move given the instability and competing agendas that continue to define that space in Mayibuye. Even the uMkhonto weSizwe Party itself has been dealing with its own internal tensions, which raises questions about whether splinter movements or realignments actually solve anything or simply replicate the same problems in a different form. My view is that artists and public figures are often drawn into political environments that look promising on the surface but are far more complex in practice, Papa Penny is even old for gigs now when his purse is empty due to culture of Floyd cleaning out peoples purse through false promises like he did to me and others that left him , Papa Penny should plant more avocados just incase as the ending of this decision he has made won’t end well. I wish him well, but I remain unconvinced that this direction prioritises stability, clarity, or long-term purpose. I genuinely wish everyone well, but Floyd Shivambu’s politics has a funny way of turning enthusiasm into long-term accounting lessons.
