The first two greens couldn’t be more different – the 2nd perched high on a dune, the 1st tucked at its base. A perfect early glimpse of the variety Southport's oldest course has to offer.

The stunning 16th isn’t just a photo opportunity, it’s a real chance to gain on your partners with a par - a score competitors in Open Qualifying would gladly take so late in the round.

The 2nd hole shows that less can be more - no bunkers, no length, just a brilliant short par 3 that speaks for itself.

A big thanks to our brilliant Welcome Starters, who volunteer their time to make every visitor’s experience special. From greeting golfers and managing tee times to sharing course info and keeping play moving, they’re a huge part of what makes our visitor experience so special.

Our course is defined by its sunken greens, and the 18th provides the perfect finale. A beautiful setting for the last approach - just make sure you don’t overclub, with the driveway waiting only a few yards away.

3 time Open Champion Sir Henry Cotton once called our 16th the best long par 3 in Lancashire. With its green tucked into a dune, bunkers in front and pines behind, it’s hard to argue.

As the Walker Cup starts today, we celebrate Hesketh member Harry Bentley, who played in the 1934, 1936, and 1938 matches - pictured welcoming Henry Cotton to Hesketh. His and his brother Arnold's legacy lives on through our Bentley Trophy and Bentley Room in the clubhouse.
