@ManagerTactical I don't think he has a broad enough perspective to take the lead yet. If they keep cutting college opps for US players, youth soccer's gonna be purely a rec sport. There's no incentive for high level talent to invest their time and money if it's pro academy by 16 or bust.

I miss Landon Donovan the player so much, ever since he retired it’s been rough. Unlike Dempsey that is still very much loved… Donovan has become one of the most unlikable people in the US 🇺🇸 Soccer community.
GOLZ@golz_tv

“If I have a conversation with a youth soccer coach from pick wherever in America, half the time that coach thinks they know more about soccer than I do.” USMNT legend Landon Donovan calls out youth soccer coaches in the U.S. 😳 “In England, a small country, there is an overall common goal and a common desire for the national team to succeed because it helps everyone,” he said. “I know the media is rough and stuff like that, but everyone in general wants it to succeed. Right? “In America, we have such a massive country, and we have a lot of people who know nothing about soccer, who get an opinion on soccer and have influence in soccer. “And so it's really hard to find commonality, because if I have a conversation with a youth soccer coach from pick wherever in America, half the time that coach thinks they know more about soccer than I do. “And I mean, they really believe it. “It's just because they have like power in their little fiefdoms that they run and whatever. The parents are beholden to them, the kids are beholden to them. “So they just think they're powerful in these because they have a seat on the U.S. Soccer board, or they're one of the member associations who gets to vote on things. “And so they feel like they're as influential as the Commissioner of MLS. It’s crazy.” Donovan has seen it all. Having played for MLS sides like LA Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes, he also spent time coaching San Diego Loyal in USL and San Diego Wave in NWSL. He played in Europe as well, with Everton, Bayern Munich, and Bayer Leverkusen. [via @goal’s The Rondo]

This 72nd episode of M*A*S*H aired in 1975. This is where MacLean Stevenson (Colonel Henry Blake) leaves the unit and is going home. It was titled "Abyssinia, Henry" (Season 3, Episode 24). FYI - Abyssinia is actually 1920s slang for "I'll be seein' ya". The episode is widely regarded as one of the most significant and surprising moments in television history for that era. TV Guide has it ranked as one of the "100 Greatest Episodes of All Time." Did you know that there's some interesting trivia about if the cast actually knew what "Radar" was going to say during that last scene? Did you see the episode? How did you react?

@BenSasse Your grace in that interview, that war paint on your face are reminders of my own dad’s resolve. I was rooting for him to be the first to beat PC, now all my cheering is directed to you. And may every extra minute/day/year/decade you get mean even more for the next.

Every oncologist should watch Ben Sasse’s interview with Ross Douthat. I was captivated by his courage, serenity, and his ability to articulate what so many of our patients feel and experience. Ben and I don’t share the same political or religious beliefs, which made it all the more compelling. A few things stood out: * His physicians struggled to deliver the “hard facts.” They led with advances in oncology before telling him he had cancer, wanting to stay positive. I’ve been there - it’s incredibly tough to balance truth with hope. We need to be frank with our patients, even when it’s difficult. I also imagine that the story didn’t play out exactly as Ben recollected, but perception is reality for our patients. * Ben asked for “Oncology 101”: chemo vs. radiation vs. surgery vs. targeted therapy. He kept saying “teach me” - he needed a map. I love that. Every patient deserves this navigation. Cancer is overwhelming without a clear direction. * He’s on a drug targeting a cancer gene long considered “undruggable.” We’re making real progress and occasionally witnessing “miracles” in clinic - responses grounded in cancer biology. This progress depends on funding and clinical trials. This is how we move the field forward. * The flip side is that these treatments carry real toxicity. Ben’s face makes this painfully clear. I am constantly amazed at what many patients are willing to endure and the resilience that they show. * Ben loves his hospice team. They gave him a practical framework for managing four variables: cancer pain, nausea, balancing diarrhea and constipation, and energy/fatigue. He noted that oncologists often steer conversations to their own agenda (scans, treatment, etc). I’ve been guilty of this too. We need to listen more. * Despite being given a prognosis of a few months, Ben keeps his great sense of humor. After watching this, I feel we could actually be friends. Political labels might once have gotten in the way - and that’s on me. Confronting death strips away differences and magnifies what we share. * Ben on the digital culture we live in: “These super-devices in our pockets, the largest tools any individual has ever had, allow our consciousness to leave the time and place where we actually live… the places where we break bread, the people we can physically touch and hug.” This is so true. * Ben doesn’t fear death, but he fears misprioritization. Dinner time is precious. There’s a limit to work trips. Live near family. Cancer forces laser focus on what matters most. When people who are dying share these pearls, all of us need to listen and consider it a gift. Highly recommended. Wishing you the best, @BenSasse. nytimes.com/2026/04/09/opi…

@discogreg @EddieTrunk And I enjoy hearing his opinions, but I don't like or agree with this one. Funny to see how it's blown up with Dee Snider and Duff McKagan chiming in, too. "Good twitter" is going to turn into "good radio" for him.

I will never understand why artists with huge deep catalogs do cover songs live. I get it’s cool / different for them. But if I’m going to see an act with a deep big catalog I love I want to hear their songs. Unless they had a hit with that cover. Then I get it. IMO

@deesnider Like him too, but it was lazy criticism at the wrong band; Springsteen has been playing marathon shows with deep cuts and covers and the hits for 50+ years.

Love Eddie but it comes off like an angry fan. Sometimes doing a cover is just fun! In recent years I’d finish every show with Highway to Hell. I love that song (and I kill it)!

@discogreg @EddieTrunk Sure, but it's splitting hairs a bit after he blasted KISS for their setlist. He knows Bruce plays 3+ hours a night with tons of deep cuts, mixes the set up, and has packed houses for 50+ years. The artist and fans are happy. It was lazy criticism directed at the wrong band.

@BustedOpenRadio @davidlagreca1 @bullyray5150 @Obaofwwe Unless Oba goes straight to a title feud after winning, I'd mirror Lesnar's first UFC fight: rookie impresses the hell out of everyone, makes one mistake, loses...and then you got a rematch story. Otherwise, it's Gunther all over - big win, then nothin' but wasted heat

@DUVAL_DOOM Walked over to Cowford with 4 people at 5 on a Wednesday to go to the roof, but they had a reception. Asked for a table in the dining room, which was empty. Hostesses said they were 'saving those for bigger parties' and told us to wait an hour for seats at the bar. Team RC now.

Here we go! Just like we told you!!! Paramount has passed on Max Landis’ treatment for a new G.I. Joe movie, and the reason fits with what we’ve already been hearing about the franchise. Landis’ version was described as a grounded spy thriller with a satirical adventure tone and without the classic G.I. Joe characters. The studio passed because it did not want to commit to that satirical artistic approach. Our SnyderVerse source previously said Paramount wants a throwback, 80s-style action film that stays true to the spirit of the animated series, and that the studio is still talking to directors.
