I’m not able to show it in motion myself but luckily New Frame Plus did, his amazing video on animation in sonic games is the reason I’m even making this argument in the first place. The 11 minute mark shows the animation in CD I isolated in post 3.

If you’re going to criticize the animation of a sonic game (or any game for that matter) understand the context of the animation the frame is taken from. In motion (another quote tweet I saw from @IJReviewss shows this animation is from a full-body rotation) - (1/?)

@IJReviewss Animation, ESPECIALLY sprite animation, is incredibly reliant on context. In motion, that bad frame is not important because the context of the action justifies it’s existence

@LucasPittman14 Story in terms of ecology is awesome. Most of my criticism for wilds comes from the human characters and the various problems each locale has on the human end. I do wish we could have a world where modern MH does well on both fronts, but unfortunately we have yet to see that

What’s crazy is this is so interesting and pretty novel as a concept, but because people have been conditioned to think “mh has no story” they immediately write off anything wilds tried to do and wouldn’t even engage with it.
