The 2024 season came to an end Friday with a loss to Princeton in the Sectional Semifinals. This marked South’s first time in a sectional semifinal in over 20 years! We will miss this great group of seniors who’ve had an historic four year! @JRCarroll4 @AukjeWinant @CathiCardano

Welp, that’s a wrap. As they say, “all good things must come to an end…” Congratulations to @matt_cardano on a spectacular D1 Collegiate career! There are so many people to thank… Curt and Janet Tetreault for giving Matt the passion to play. Bob Sullivan for his generosity and tutelage. Andrew Rosenbloom for his mentorship. Legendary Loyola coach Rick Mcclure for taking a chance on Matt, providing him with the opportunity of a lifetime. Loyola coaches Josh Eventoff and Cole Sutton for their direction, placing Matt in position to thrive both on the court and in the class room. Lauren Hayes for her unwavering support. And of course Oliver Davey, Tyler Mast and all of Matt's teammates, as you've meant the world to him. It’s truly been a 4-year collegiate career that none of us will ever forget. Despite missing his entire high school senior year of competition due to COVID which spilled over to his freshman year of college resulting in only 11-matches played; playing at the #1 position, Matthew accomplished the following: - Became the 1st ever nationally ranked player (male or female) from the Loyola Div 1 Tennis program (NCAA Division I Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Ranking #124) - Finished his career with 72 wins and a winning percentage of 73%, the highest of any player in the history of the Loyola Division I Men’s Tennis program. - The most wins ever in a single season at the school at the #1 singles position - A Team Captain both Jr. & Sr. year - Nominated as Patriot League Player of the Week each of his 4 years - Named to the All Patriot League Academic Team multiple years - Team MVP all 4 years - Selected as the only Student-Athlete Representative in the Patriot League Conference to take part in the Patriot League Tennis Championship Format Subcommittee Huzzah!!! @LoyolaHounds @HoundTennis @MHSSTennis
