Onion downy mildew confirmed in MI yesterday. Moderate temps coming later this week will favor this pathogen.

High downy mildew count in Bay Co where lots of cukes grow. Growers need to begin their DM program. Watching a suspect sample from Monroe.

MI weather with over 48 hrs of leaf wetness will mean big disease problems. Choose fungicides wisely and be aggressive!

No rest for plant pathogens this weekend. High temps and wet foliage means spots, blights, and rots are coming. Aggressive programs needed.

Hot temps will exacerbate pink root on onions. Affected fields may need extra attention and protection of stressed foliage from blights.

WMV2 diagnosed on winter squash. Common for MI growers, but concerning. Hopefully, yield won't be impacted but too early to say.

Some Phytophthora soil diseases like it hot. Its cooler in the soil anyway. Irrigate sparingly and if you've gotten rain, be preventive.

Downy mildew in 3 MI counties on cukes. Home gardens must also have it. Check those cuke (and melon) leaves and report to extension.

Hot temps make disease control tricky. Don't apply during hottest time and don't mix surfactants or foliar fertilizers with fungicides.

Onion downy mildew confirmed today. New products are worth a try but keep Mancozeb in the program, too.

Remember...no Phostrol when temps are high. Leaf burn in our trials when sprays are made during heat waves. Aliette seems safer.

Downy mildew marches through eastern production areas of Michigan. Too bad for cucumber and melon growers. Webpage has pics and more.

Ginseng looks great in WI. Be vigilant against Phytophthora. Stay the course with Presidio, Captan, Reason. Alternaria still active.
