Despite protests across the country saying otherwise, let me be clear: Every child has the right to feel safe and seen. It’s a fundamental part of growing up. This is about the safety and protection of all genders, all people, of all ages. Nothing more, nothing less.

This morning, so-called “save our children” protestors swarmed my vehicle. The level of hate was chilling. It did not shake my resolve to stand with 2SLGBTQ+ kids & their families. Calgary is a place of love & inclusion. Your hatred has no home here. #lovewins

Today we opened our new cultural healing space to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day. Elders Martin and Pam Heavy Head held a Pipe Ceremony to give the room a traditional name. The name is Kookonnooni in Blackfoot and in Cree, it is Kiikinow. It means Our House.
