I was in one government office today explaining my problem to one woman for almost 15 minutes. After explaining everything calmly, this woman looked at me and said: “Madam move to the left, you’re blocking the TV.” I honestly had to hold myself because I didn’t know whether to respond or just pretend I didn’t hear her.

@NgugiEvuti Zero transport system. That's why when ever fly into Abuja, you're trapped in the hands of exploiters called Airport taxis, no proximity railroad system to take you from airport to your destination. Abuja supposed have a well connected Railroad system, but not APC.

Posting about HR does not make you an HR Professional. Reviewing CVs does not make you an HR Professional. Giving career talks does not make you an HR Professional. I said what I said. The HR space has become a content market. Everyone has an opinion. Everyone has a framework. Everyone has a template to sell. And because the content looks good, people assume the practitioner is real. But content is not practice. HR practice means you have sat with a business and built something. A compensation structure. A performance management system. A disciplinary process that held up when tested. A recruitment framework that actually reduced bad hires. It means you have had a hard conversation with a manager who wanted to fire someone unfairly — and you held the line. It means you have looked at attrition data, diagnosed the problem, and recommended a solution that the business actually implemented. It means you have processed a payroll, resolved a grievance, written a policy that people used, and defended an HR decision in a room where nobody wanted to hear it. That is practice. CV reviews are a service. Career talks are visibility. HR content is education. None of them alone qualify you as an HR practitioner. Now — can a content creator become a practitioner? Absolutely. Can a practitioner build a content platform? Yes. The two are not enemies. But they are not the same thing. And the market needs to stop treating them as if they are. If you are hiring an HR consultant, ask them what they have built. Not what they have posted. The certificate matters. The content is interesting. But the practice is what makes you dangerous in the right way. #HRWeySabi ✌️
