Was ass’t in 4 of original power 5’s and HC at charlotte when we went to 7 NCAA’s in 10 yrs. These are valid points. As M Painter said, every coach should do what is best for their school and program. When we lost at UNC in OT, Coach Guthridge said great job;never play you again

Full disclosure, I support a mid major. Mike is spot on here. If the high points of the world want some respect go on the road play a mid major home and home. Don’t buy into Clayman’s narrative. It’s not true.

Anthony Kim makes 9 birdies for a final round 63 to win LIV Golf Adelaide by 3 shots over Jon Rahm. He didn’t play golf for 12 years. Was relegated. Re-qualified. Now he’s won. This is one of the greatest comeback stories in sporting history. Truly astonishing.

This seems to be the prevailing sentiment amongst non-climbers... But it's simply wrong. Honnold's climb of Freerider on ElCap (which was captured on film by the legendary Jimmy Chin) is EASILY 10x more impressive than what Alex did on the skyscraper. I don't think it's possible to fully appreciate the absurdity of Honnold's free solo of ElCap unless you yourself have been on that climb. I have... I've been up there... I've done all the moves... (and this was during a period of my life wher I was in the top 0.00001% of strongest climbers in the world) And I got my ass handed to me. The 13a crux 23 pitches off the ground is unbelievably technical and requires a level of precision that, to execute without a rope, is nearly unbelievable. This is a hill I will gladly die on: Honnold's free solo of ElCap is THE single most impressive athletic achievement in human history. Nothing else comes even remotely close. (and certainly not this skyscraper). If you want to have your paradigm for what humans are capable of turned upside down... Go watch Free Solo.

This is pretty easily the most impressive athletic accomplishment ever caught on film. I’m not sure that there’s even a close second.

Curt Cignetti took over the worst program in college football history and then proceeded to win the school’s first-ever national championship within just two years. It's the most remarkable coaching job in the history of sports.

I am once again asking the @SFGiants to offer Barry Bonds a pro-rated league minimum deal and an opportunity to pinch-hit in one game at the end of the season so that his Hall of Fame eligibility clock resets.

Playing a practice round for @OlympicGolf this is Alejandro Tosti ( video courtesy of @BradFaxon ) who is just 5’6” tall and is currently in the top 10 in driving distance on the PGA Tour. It is tough to be precise about the top 10 P4P and I4I longest players of all time as there isn’t the data needed to be exact but I don’t think it would be a stretch to put Tosti in the top 10 all time in either I4I or P4P driving distance. (note: “players” meaning played golf at the highest level, otherwise this title will always belong to @JamieSadlowski ) My top 10 in no particular order: Gene Sarazen Gary Player Ian Woosnam Rory Mcilroy Ben Hogan Bobby Jones Tom Watson Alejandro Tosti Min Woo Lee Justin Thomas *There is a bias towards more recent players because the data is better and because golf courses are increasingly being setup to encourage players to swing for the fences and the equipment, being more forgiving, further encourages this generation of players to swing all out. Still though there is much to learn from these moves.
