It’s okay to inform new teachers of the harsh realities that they may face, but please do not stifle their enthusiasm with your constant negative attitude.

Keep your blueprint private until it's finished. Some of you are making too much noise during the building phase. Silent moves are more effective than loud ones. #thejourneycontinues

@tannerslagle I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as an instructional coach! I am learning a lot that I know will serve me well in the next phase of this journey.

I was only an instructional coach for two years, but YES!! Not everyone has the same ideas, beliefs, or skill sets. Without those two years, I would’ve walked into my AP role this year without an understanding of how to support the spread of abilities.
Zach Groshell@MrZachG

Something that I hear from most principals that went straight from teaching to leading: “I did not know the extent of the spread of abilities of teachers… I thought they largely taught like me.” It’s another reason I think helping teachers observe each other is so critical.
