.@MDHHS_Director Hertel and State Budget Director Jen Flood toured the soon to be completed Southeast Michigan Psychiatric Hospital, a key component of the state’s commitment to expanding behavioral health care services.

The FY27 Executive Budget Recommendation invests $72.2M to support the transition to Michigan’s new state-of-the-art psychiatric hospital, expanding behavioral health capacity. Today, DTMB, SBO, & MDHHS staff toured the facility as construction progresses toward its 2026 opening.

Today, State Budget Director Jen Flood discussed the the investments helping drive growth and opportunity across Michigan and the Governor's FY27 Executive Budget Recommendation at the Michigan Economic Developers Association’s Economic Development Impact Day.

This recommendation helps communities keep residents safe by sustaining revenue sharing, supporting firefighters and ambulance partners, funding crime prevention, maintaining emergency communications, and building on nearly $2B invested in public safety since 2019. #MIbudget

General Fund spending has remained relatively flat, only rising 4.1% since 2019 when adjusted for inflation, even as we’ve made significant investments in Michigan's priorities and managed major federal disruptions.
