Thursday's horse racing thread 🧵
Chepstow 2.18 Dish Of The Day 3/1
Southwell 4.37 Start Me Up 9/4
Chepstow 4.50 Crystello 5/4 NEXT BEST
Chelmsford 8.00 King David 4/1 each way
Chelmsford 8.30 Engross 6/5 NAP
There are a few reasons why I can see DISH OF THE DAY bouncing back here. He was pulled up at Taunton but given time since, back on a better surface, and dropping back to 2 miles, should all see him back to his best. He is also 2lb lower and now 16lb lower than when he started handicapping so should be off a good mark under Chad Bament. Both Timeforarum and This Sway are feared but both won last time out and have gone up in the weights as a result.
After going close over C&D START ME UP has been highly tried since. I think the fact they took him over to Meydan tells you they think he is pretty useful. I know things didn't really work out over there but back on these shores handicapping off a mark of 77 I'll be surprised if he doesn't get seriously competitive. Wyle Cop impressed winning on return so looks the danger if building on that again.
This looks a great chance for CRYSTELLO to follow up. He relished the step up in trip to win at Musselburgh showing a good attitude to prevail. That form is decent especially in the context of this race and despite a 4lb rise is unexposed over this trip and should follow up. Blue In The West has been somewhat frustrating but did run well bumping into the progressive Local Derby at Exeter so could threaten most.
I know KING DAVID isn't the most straightforward but he ran a big race in defeat beaten narrowly over C&D last month and is too well handicapped to ignore here. There should be quite a bit of pace on so an end to end gallop will definitely help his style. As long as he isn't given too much to do I think he'll be finishing strongly under Marco Ghiani.
A bit of a wait for the NAP today but hopefully worthwhile! ENGROSS is by Gleneagles and I have been waiting for him to go handicapping. He has been sent off 12/1, 18/1 and 20/1 but has shown clear signs of promise especially when a closing fourth at Wolverhampton when last seen. Freshened up and now tackling a mile and a quarter he should improve enough to take care of this field.

Turned a bit tactical so hard for him to really lengthen away off that gallop.
Such a shame for the boosts!
