Today, we proudly celebrate our colleague Dr. Caroline Birungi upon her graduation from the Makerere University College of Health Sciences (MakCHS).Her doctoral thesis, titled: “Risky sexual behavior among individuals with severe mental illness in Uganda: Prevalence, correlates, perceptions, and effectiveness of risky sexual behaviour reduction intervention.”
This significant scholarly work advances understanding of sexual health risks among individuals living with severe mental illness in Uganda and rigorously evaluates interventions aimed at reducing risky sexual behaviours within this vulnerable population.
Her research contributes valuable evidence to inform policy, clinical practice, and targeted prevention strategies — strengthening the intersection of mental health and HIV/sexual health programming in Uganda.
Congratulations, Dr. Birungi, on this remarkable academic achievement and contribution to public health research. 🌟
