@smithsmm Would you do any curriculum 'tweak' work in the next 6 months? We are 2 months post-ofsted and doing so would seem a waste of time unless it was obviously needing fixing. In the last 5 years it's been standard practice for us to tweak but seems to wrong focus atm

Curriculum is the most political aspect of school policy. If the party in government changes curriculum will change, it is as inevitable as the seasons. No point getting in a stew about it

@EasjetHoliday It's totally unacceptable to raise prices during a booking. We had flights to Rovaniemi in the basket at £300 return. During the booking process (flights chosen and due to pay!) this went up to £650! That's disgraceful! I hope you will be putting new flights soon

@MJEarnshaw @MichaelRosenYes @davidnichol521 Is it the DfE? Or Ofqual? Legally, Ofqual is a non-ministerial department, accountable directly to parliament. How does this work in reality? What is 'parliament'? Who is Ofqual's boss? This accountability conundrum is not limited to Ofqual: it applies to Ofsted, and others, too.

If you set an exam that is 'too hard' for a third of the students to pass, the problem is with the system not the students or the exam. It's the fault of the system that thinks setting such a test is useful. It isn't. It's a waste of time, energy, money and people

@davidnichol521 @MichaelRosenYes It would be great if the test was like this. However, the test is sat, the scores found out and then the pass mark is set by the DfE. Basically, they can decide what percentage have passed based on what number they want to see. 80% pass, set the mark at 19, 65% pass, set it as 25

@MichaelRosenYes If pupils are taught well at an appropriate level then almost all of them should pass and be able to demonstrate what they have learned. If a third fail they have either been poorly taught or the content is inappropriate for them.

Did you know? A new £100 million private hospital will be opening next year on the grounds of an NHS trust. The new hospital will belong to a US-owned private healthcare company, HCA UK. RT if you think everyone should be aware.

@Smithdsd11 @AliKatMay @timsykes3 @andreajenkyns If 3000 people earn 25k and 3 people earn 75k, the median is 50k. Those are your facts. The median is the middle figure and does not into account the amounts at the extremes. It's a distorted figure that is not suitable for purpose.
