A National Disgrace - Healthcare Affordability!!! Survey Reveals 1 In 3 Americans Are Making Basic Living Sacrifices, Borrowing Money To Afford Health Care The New York Times reports that a survey released Thursday by the West Health-Gallup Center on Healthcare in America reveals that one-third of Americans, about 82 million people, are making sacrifices due to rising health care costs. These include “skipping meals and driving less,” as well as deciding against “making major changes to their lives, like having a child or retiring.” The survey, conducted from June to August 2025, highlights that 15% of respondents borrowed money and 11% skipped meals to pay for medical expenses. Furthermore, a “recent poll by the health policy organization KFF found that health care costs topped a list of the public’s economic anxieties.” Fierce Healthcare reports that the “need to make these trade-offs was far more common among the uninsured, Gallup found, with 62% saying they made at least one sacrifice to afford their care. However, 29% of those with insurance also said they were forced to make a trade-off to cover their health care costs.” The results showed that “just over half (55%) of people with a household income of $24,000 or less each year report making at least one trade-off with daily expenses for their health care costs. Close to half (48%) of those earning between $24,000 and $48,000 in annual household income said the same.”

According to The New York Times, Donald's building monuments to himself makes him "an inescapable force." No. It simply reminds the world what a pathetic, insecure loser we put in power. And it's humiliating.

@MeghanMcCain Rubio is one of the many who sold their souls for power! No way he has a shot in 2028. Most of the American people are fed up with Trump and his minions.

Rural Hospital Emergency! 😬 Seven hundred and thirty-four rural hospitals across the U.S., which represent one-third of all rural facilities nationwide, are at risk of closing due to severe financial problems, according to the Center for Healthcare Quality and Payment Reform’s most recent analysis. More than 100 rural hospitals have also shut their doors over the last decade, leaving millions of Americans without access to emergency rooms and inpatient care in the areas they live. An additional 44 hospitals have ended inpatient services since 2023 to qualify for federal grants exclusively available to rural emergency hospitals, the report said. The report said inadequate payments from private insurance companies is a primary driver for the hospital closures. Almost half of rural hospitals lose money delivering patient services, with costs per patient running higher in smaller, rural communities versus urban areas due to less residents served relative to fixed service costs. Three hundred and nine hospitals are at immediate closure risk due to the severity of their financial challenges. In 10 states, 50% or more of rural hospitals are at risk. Facilities with the greatest risk of closure have exhausted financial reserves and carry more debt than assets. Preventing these closures would cost around $6 billion annually, 0.1% of total national healthcare spending, the report states. #ruralhospitals #centerforhealthcarequality #hospitals

Can ICE Enter Hospitals? U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are permitted to be in public spaces including hospital parking lots, entrances, lobbies and waiting areas. To access private areas such as patient rooms, agents need a judicial warrant issued by a federal or state court judge with the hospital’s name, address and the current date, lawyers said. If they have an administrative warrant or subpoena issued by a government agency and, say, an immigration judge, the hospital is not required to grant them access to private areas, said Alissa Smith, partner at Dorsey + Whitney LLP. Federal agents may enter private areas if they are escorting a detainee receiving medical care, but they are not entitled to a patient’s private medical information, said Jack Korbin, of counsel at Foley & Lardner LLP. While in private areas, agents can ask other patients about their immigration status, but the patients are not required to respond and the agent cannot demand identification, Korbin said. #ice #hospitals #judicialwarrants

Autism Update!!! Review finds no evidence acetaminophen use in pregnancy increases risk of autism, other neurodevelopmental disorders The New York Times (1/16, Ghorayshi) reports that a “scientific review of...studies on acetaminophen use during pregnancy concluded that there was no evidence that the painkiller increased the risk of autism or other neurodevelopmental disorders.” The AP (1/16, Ungar) reported that investigators “looked at 43 studies and concluded that the most rigorous ones, such as those that compare siblings, provide strong evidence that taking the drug...does not cause autism, ADHD or intellectual disabilities.” The review was published in The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women’s Health.

Is Trump Sundowning??? It’s terrible to watch sundowning in someone you love. But that’s a personal tragedy – not a national or global one. It’s an entirely different matter when the president of the United States is sundowning — a president surrounded by malign sycophants who tell him whatever he wants to hear and indulge his every whim, no matter how destructive.
