Many may forget… but we fans never do!! 💔
As we know, this Thursday, April 2, Jaafar Jackson will be on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, alongside Jimmy Fallon, with Jack Black also among the guests.
This coincidence brings back difficult memories. In 2002, at the MTV Video Music Awards, Michael Jackson was introduced as the “Artist of the Millennium.” He went on stage believing he was receiving an award and delivered an emotional speech. Later, the moment came to be treated as a misunderstanding, which left him deeply hurt and embarrassed even though there were records on MTV’s own website referring to the title as “Artist of the Millennium.”
In the months and the year that followed, the situation became a target of humor. Jack Black made jokes and caricatured imitations related to the episode, including exaggerated falls and gestures, while Jimmy Fallon also made comments and jokes that many fans felt ridiculed the moment. For many, seeing a situation that hurt Michael turned into mockery was something difficult to forget.
Years later, these same names now share the stage with the one who is bringing Michael’s story to the big screen. Many may not remember… but we fans always do 😉
