Over three days, participants engaged in mentoring sessions, presentations, and a well-attended public roundtable and masterclass, Introducing Southern Digitalities, exploring digital cultures, infrastructures, labor, media, and platformization from and across the Global South.

.@majedalansari, Advisor to #Qatar’s Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reflected on his journey to becoming the ministry’s official voice. He looked back at his time before becoming the spokesperson during the 2017 blockade on Qatar, when he made media appearances to provide his analysis on the situation and sharing the Gulf country's narrative.

Northwestern University Provost-Elect Erik Luijten addressed the Class of 2026, recognizing their resilience and the global perspective they bring. Graduation speaker H.E. Dr. Majed Al-Ansari spoke about the responsibility that comes with communication in a fast-moving media landscape. Reflecting on public service and the power of words, he reminded graduates that impact is built on integrity. “Speed will get you seen. Class speaker Isra Fejzullaj reflected on a shared journey defined by uncertainty, growth, and perseverance. Her message emphasized the importance of curiosity, responsibility, and staying grounded in purpose. “We learned to look deeper, to listen closely, and to find meaning in a world overflowing with information.”

Amna Essa Hilal Al Kuwari, a 2025 graduate of Northwestern University in Qatar, has received the Platinum Medal at the 19th Qatar Education Excellence Award ceremony, earning the highest national distinction for academic and societal excellence. Her recognition marks a historic milestone as the first Northwestern Qatar alumna to receive the Platinum Medal, the program’s most prestigious honor. “I’m so proud of Amna. This is a significant milestone for her but also inspiring for our entire community. Amna represents the intellectual curiosity, interdisciplinary courage, and public-minded leadership that define Northwestern Qatar. To see one of our graduates earn the highest academic distinction in the country affirms the caliber of students we are proud to have as part of our community” - Marwan M.
