A note to research science educators: Henrietta Lacks is not the only case study on terrible research ethics. It's an important one, but by the time you're working with post-graduate fellows this is the 3-4+time we've looked at the same case.

I may have defended 6 months ago but coming back to Minnesota for work means ECP isn't getting rid of me that easily.

Update I won the tournament against ~15 students. A typo yesterday slightly exaggerated my skills, the larger 30 student group was a mix of middle school and elementary school students.

Getting a PhD is cool, but how many people can go undefeated in Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza (TCGCP) against almost 30 middle schoolers. If all goes well tomorrow my greatest accomplishment of 2024 will be winning the summer school TCGCP tournament.

New reason why I'm not sure I'm ever supposed to work in academia: I can't handle students calling me Miss/Dr. Bixby. I'm teaching 1st-5th graders in summer school and I switched to Morgan/Miss Morgan on day 1.

@EB_Hirsch @Ashlan_Kunz @SIDPharm @accpinfdprn @mmPharmD Their petri dish collection went viral and they got thousands of orders earlier this spring so they paused new orders to catch up on the large volume. Just waiting for it to come off pause to order so many stickers!

And now as of Friday 100% of our cohort is officially doctors!

I would like to make a petition to not require an undergraduate GPA on applications for positions that require graduate degrees. My undergraduate GPA was far from ideal and highly reflective of my undiagnosed (and untreated) severe Crohn's Disease. Please disregard it!

@motaz_ehab I feel this! When I wanted a remote internship summer of 2022 because I was having major abdominal surgery that May but everyone wanted in person interns.

When you are ready to have an internship, all positions were remote and looking for a PhD candidate. When you become a PhD candidate, all positions become in-person but you can not travel due to family commitments. My short sad story of securing a summer internship 😂😅.

@motaz_ehab Especially during the winter months in Minnesota! Keep hanging in there! There's light at the end of the tunnel.

If I'd never done both, I would think it would be harder to catheterize a 17 g mouse than put ear drops in a dog's infected while she's on calming medication. And I would have been wrong.
