No man should end up sleeping in his car or on the street because his relationship has broken down. Services across Adelaide report more men aged 40–50 becoming homeless after relationship breakdown, financial stress and rising living costs. @HuttStCentre saw over 2,200 people in 2024/25 – 63% men – and a 23% rise in rough sleeping, while Vinnies Men’s Crisis Centre is at capacity. My questions to the President to address the growing crisis in men’s mental health and homelessness in South Australia: • Do you acknowledge the link between relationship breakdown and men’s homelessness? • What support exists specifically for men experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity? • What immediate action will you take as services say they are overwhelmed? I look forward to updating you with the Minister’s response …

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the inaugural Parliamentary Friends of Men’s Wellbeing Forum. As highlighted in the speeches of the Hon Blair Boyer MP, Minister for Health and Wellbeing and the Hon Dennis Hood MLC, times are changing, and men’s health is finally becoming part of the public conversation. A sincere thank you to the outstanding guest speakers: • Professor Gary Wittert, Director of Adelaide University's Centre for Male Health and Wellbeing • Derrick McManus, Leader in the field of Human Durability, and former Police Special Task and Rescue (STAR) Group Officer It was an excellent networking event, bringing together a diverse range of organisations, advocates and community leaders who are passionate about improving outcomes for men and boys. This forum is only the beginning. I will continue to push for a Minister for Men in Parliament and ensure men’s mental health remains firmly on the agenda.

It was an honour to attend the Australian Energy Producers Conference & Exhibition ‘Night of Nights’ dinner this week. The conference remains one of the most significant annual forums for discussing Australia’s energy future, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, investors and stakeholders from across the globe. With more than 2,500 delegates and presenters, the conference provides an important platform for serious discussion around the challenges and opportunities facing the energy sector as global markets and technologies continue to evolve. Events such as this are critical to ensuring Australia remains focused on energy security, economic growth, investment certainty and innovation in a rapidly changing global landscape. Taxpayers deserve transparency. If South Australians are funding nearly $25 million in parliamentary services, the Auditor-General should have full access to the catering accounts. And the public should know what they’re paying for.

The Minister for Tourism did not answer simple questions about the nature of The Government’s agreement with Michelin Guide in Parliament today. - Does The Government have an agreement with Michelin Guide? - If there is an agreement, how much will it cost taxpayers? - Why did Tourism Australia and other states reject offers from Michelin Guide? I will continue to push the Minister for answers to these questions. We also need to know if The Government did its due diligence before committing taxpayer dollars to any agreement.

Today in Parliament, I raised concerns about the balance between skilled migration, youth unemployment, and housing pressures in South Australia: ▪️2,250 skilled migration visas granted this year - every new arrival will need a home. ▪️No response from the Minister on housing, despite growing pressure on affordability for local families. ▪️Nearly 40% of 24-year-olds are not fully engaged in work or study. ▪️Government highlighted trade schools - but no clear plan, timeline, or evidence these are reducing youth unemployment. South Australia does need skilled workers, but we also need to: ▪️Train and employ our own young people, and ▪️Address rising housing demand and costs. This is about getting the balance right so South Australians aren’t left behind or priced out.

It was truly an honour to be recognised at today’s #MatesInConstruction -SA annual lunch, for the $147,500 we raised through last year’s International Men’s Day event, which I had the pleasure of hosting. I’m incredibly proud to see such meaningful progress and a growing commitment to investing in men’s health. The positive shift in awareness and support since I began my time in Parliament 4 years ago is encouraging - this is real progress. @parentsbeyondbreakup @dads_in_distress_australia @mhcoalitionsa @australianmenshealthforum @australianmensshedassociation @mentallyfitep @teenchallenge_sa @matesinconstructionsa

Moral and ethical teaching belongs with parents, and my Parental Primacy Bill puts parents in charge of these topics not schools. We support the parents protesting today at a southern suburbs school in response to the upcoming school event - ‘International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). Parents should not have to resort to protests simply to have their concerns heard, especially when it comes to young children being exposed to complex gender ideologies in kindy and junior primary settings. This discussion is about ensuring that: •Parents retain the right as primary decision makers for their children’s exposure to complex gender ideologies •Educational content introduced at a young age is appropriate and transparent •Parents are informed and able to give consent That is why I am advocating for the Parental Primacy Bill - to reaffirm parental rights and restore balance between schools and families in early education. If you support stronger parental involvement, I encourage you to share your views by contacting: game.office@parliament.sa.gov.au @ParentalPrimacy @LetParentsParent @ProtectOurKids

I am honoured to be hosting The Inaugural “Friends of Men’s Wellbeing” Forum next week at Parliament House, as part of my ongoing advocacy for Men’s Mental Health. With over 50 attendees, this forum reflects a shared commitment, with bi-partisan support, to addressing the diverse challenges men face, and seeks to dismantle stigmas and encourage a more inclusive approach to men's health. By fostering dialogue and collaboration among policymakers, community leaders, and health professionals, I hope to continue towards establishing a 'Men's Roundtable' to advise The Government on effective strategies, policies and programs to advocate on the overall welfare of men. @parentsbeyondbreakup @dads_in_distress_australia @mhcoalitionsa @australianmenshealthforum @australianmensshedassociation @teenchallenge_sa @mccsaevents @youth_of_mylsa @relationshipsautraliasa @mosaicadelaide

We are all concerned over our state's rising debt. I asked four urgent questions yesterday about SA’s rising debt and its impact on services. With debt around $37B by 2029 and daily interest ~$6.7M, how will we reduce debt, protect services, and grow the economy from ~0.9%? I’ll publish the Treasurer’s answers soon. Feel free to share your priorities and questions. #Sapol #DebtWatchSA #Budget2026

"No woman should have to share a toilet block with men. Changes to the National Construction Code will allow as many as HALF of the toilets in all new public buildings to become “all-gender” toilets. This is ideology over safety, and it's completely unacceptable. All-gender toilets present a risk to the privacy, dignity, and personal safety of women. Today I asked the Government whether they support these changes... "

Labor's rush to 100% unreliable wind and solar based electricity means we have amongst the highest electricity prices in the world. How does The Government expect anyone to make an investment in South Australia in electricity-intensive businesses like steel, aluminium, glass, fertilisers or metals processing? I asked this question today, in relation to the Port Pirie smelter, which is losing millions of dollars a month and supports an economy of over 7,000 jobs.

The issue of homelessness is one that weighs heavily on my heart. It is truly a tragedy to witness individuals sleeping rough in public areas. Everyone should have access to safe and secure accommodation. Those who don’t are left vulnerable to developing long-term health problems and to becoming victims of crime. Today I had the privilege of meeting with David Pearson, CEO of the South Australian Alliance to End Homelessness. I also learnt about ‘Street Connect’, the local initiative that allows the public to notify support services for those sleeping rough in the Adelaide CBD, North Adelaide and surrounding parklands, and beyond. Ending homelessness requires collective action – no single person, organisation or government can do it alone. I am looking forward to collaborating with SAAEH and likeminded organisations in developing solutions towards achieving the end of homelessness in South Australia. If you see someone sleeping rough in a public place, you can assist by calling: 1800 809 273, or visiting the website streetconnect.sa.gov.au #AdelaideZeroProject
