Back in 2011, when I started judging for the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board, I was still coaching a lot of fighters.
It quickly became a conflict of interest.
Pretty much every time the UFC came to New Jersey, I had fighters on the card, so it got hard to judge.
I’ve been working with UFC BJJ as a judge and behind the scenes, helping optimize the rules and shape the old UFC Fight Pass Jiu Jitsu events into what we now know as UFC BJJ.
Recently, UFC brass asked me to get back into judging so they could use me on events as UFC BJJ starts to travel.
I said, “Why not?” I’m in Jersey all the time and still have my school there. It’s basically my second home.
Can’t pass a UFC night with the second best seat in the house.
Only thing better than cage side is in the cage and I’m too old for that.
