15 days ago, Rocky came in as close to death as is possible for a dog to be. It has been a battle to get him back into shape but I think you will agree that he is looking fantastic. People often ask me how you put up with the cruelty when you deal with dogs and it's a very good question. The answer actually comes from dogs themselves. You have to take it one day at a time. What has happened in the past is the past. All we can do, just like dogs, is enjoy the moment and the day that we have. Today was a gorgeous sunny Sunday and myself and Rocky had smoked salmon. He followed me for a proper walk down Hope Avenue. He had lots of belly rubs and he was as gentle and kind as a dog could be. Sometimes you just have to forget about what's happened in the past and not look too far into the future. We're all very guilty of it but Rocky has taught me to enjoy the moment, the present. He’s a very good boy is our Rocky ❤️

I’ve never met Justin. But his paper with Joe Price “Racial Discrimination Among NBA Referees” is one of the things that got me into sports economics, eventually leading to a focus on MMA. Wishing him the best in this new venture to share the power of economics with the world

A funny thing happened on the way to launch day. The @nytimes wrote about Platypus Economics. Brian O'Keefe asked tons of questions, interviewed all sorts of folks, and produced something I'm a little stunned by. nytimes.com/2026/05/06/bus… (gift link)

Announcing: @PlatypusEcon — a Substack, YouTube channel, and podcast built around one idea: Economics is one of the most useful, surprising, and weirdly beautiful subjects in the world. It belongs to everyone — not just the people who happened to take it in college. 🧵

A WSJ analysis found 67% of Polymarket profits goes to just 0.1% of accounts, while most traders are in the red. Most Kalshi users also lose money. on.wsj.com/4td9UPy

@Carbazel Wow. I trained with a Spirit pilot. Feel bad for him and others, but yeah, would never fly that airline.

Spirit Airlines is shutting down. How they lasted as long as they did is a wonder. My only experience with them was when I was heading to ADCC's in Vegas to coach someone, and we were both stuck on the runway for 10 hours, only to never make it there. Good riddens.

@GlobeSvcs What’s he been telling and showing the investors? Would love to know that.

Off memory, didn’t he start making the soon-we’ll-be-profitable claims back in 2018 or 2019? Reminds me of when I showed ONE’s financials to my CFO wife, not telling her where they came from, and her response was “Those are the worst financials I’ve ever seen!”

Found this clip from Jan 2024 where Chatri definitively declares that by year’s end, ONE Championship will have “kuroji” (to be in the black). ONE’s recent filings show they made a loss of $47M for that time period.

The big question in my mind is will Chatri end up failing up from this exercise?

This DOJ court filing is nuts. Here’s hoping the judge tears into the lawyers who signed it. Reminds me of the guy who would file handwritten lawsuits against MMA fighters, like being worried Ronda Rousey will “Judo Kick my head into submission” Our DOJ has become GB White 🤦‍♂️

Trump’s DOJ just filed what may be the most deranged written Motion ever. It reads more like a Truth Social post dictated by Trump himself. What an embarrassment. The Motion is filled with inappropriate personal insults. It literally calls the National Trust for Historic Preservation name “FAKE” and says the group is “very bad for our Country.” It accuses them of suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome” and frames their lawyer as “the lawyer for Barack Hussein Obama.” This is an actual line from the filing: “because it is DONALD J. TRUMP, a highly successful real estate developer, who has abilities that others don't, especially those who assume the Office of President, this frivolous and meritless lawsuit was filed.” This is how the Department of Justice is writing now? Then comes the opportunism. The filing leans heavily on the White House Correspondents’ Dinner incident and uses it to push Trump’s long-standing obsession with building a ballroom. Instead of addressing what went wrong, it argues that none of this would have happened if Trump’s project already existed. They claim “bipartisan support” because of support from…John Fetterman. The lawsuit also claims at multiple points the ballroom won’t cost taxpayers anything—something we now know to be false. Every DOJ lawyer who put their name on this should be ashamed. And it should be a major scandal that it appears that Donald Trump is the one who actually wrote this. So much for DOJ independence.

.@iamtheimmortal, who survived a mass shooting, tells Dana White there is nothing "awesome" about witnessing it: "I’ve been there when there was a shooting going on, which most people probably haven’t. It is not awesome in any sense of the word." (🎥 @DamonMartin)

You have to respect Davey Grant's approach to the fight game at this stage of his career: "I’m not delusional—I don’t think I’m going to get in there and make a title run. Look, if that happens—if I go out and knock out the next three in quick fights—maybe we can start talking about it. But I’m building a legacy of exciting fights, which is what I want to be known for. I’m trying to make as much money as I can for my family before I retire, so I can invest and try to bring everyone on."

UFC Fight Pass quickly got better. ESPN+ seemed to get worse over time. For @UFConParamount, the fact that it takes 4 clicks from this screen is really annoying. Not the end of the world, but I hope they improve it. #UFCVegas116

Does every non-Rogan announcer have to start with the “anything surprising” line to be in sync with him? It’s so deflating at this point. God dammit, anything surprising again! #UFCVegas116
