OHCenSouth just hosted a fabulous webinar with Josh Funk! Since my favor Josh Funk book is MY PET FEET, this week’s Wild Wednesday will feature ferrets. There Are Many Names for male, female, & baby ferrets Baby ferrets are known as kits if they are less than 1 year old. Males and females can be further differentiated depending on whether they have been fixed. Intact males are known as hobs, and neutered males are known as gibs. As for intact females, they are called jills, and spayed females are called sprites. If you ever encounter a group of ferrets, you can call them a fesnyng or a business.

Another free opportunity from #SCBWI!

This mentorship application has been sitting in my brain for weeks. Naturally, I waited until the last possible moment to actually do it. 😆 Took the plunge and applied to #PBRisingStars! Betting on myself and hoping all these little steps of learning and growing I've been doing lead to a long future as an author. #becausewhynotme

In honor of the new rhino calf at The Wilds, let’s do some rhino facts for today’s Wild Wednesday! Rhino communication is pretty wild! From the WWF: Rhinos make an array of funny noises when they’re communicating.  During confrontations, they growl and make 'trumpet calls'.  Black rhinos snort when they’re angry, make sneeze-like calls as alarms, scream if they’re scared and ‘mmwonk' when relaxed.   Rhinos also communicate through their poo and urine. When rhino poo in the same place as other rhinos – an area known as a latrine – they can smell the poo and urine of other individuals, and know who's in the area.

It’s PBParty’s 12th year! The PBParty Dream Team of Judges can’t wait to read your submissions and celebrate your successes. The annual PBParty contest is for unagented writers and author/illustrators with finished and polished picture book manuscripts. You submit an entry (query and first 60 – 70 words) and we pick a wide variety of genres for the agents/editors to read and hopefully request in an online showcase. We’re using Google forms again. Submit one contest entry on Tuesday, March 17 from midnight to 8pm EST via the correct Google form link (author, author/illustrator, or illustrator.)
