Another memorial on Weymouth’s seafront is dedicated to men and women who lost their lives serving with the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleet. Made from a five tonne block of Portland stone it was unveiled in 2016.

History was made today! The Merchant Navy Medal became the first state medal to bear the image of King Charles III. Well done all worthy recipients of the Merchant Navy Medal! And thank you @transportgovuk for your recognition of the UK's merchant seafarers 👏👏

Yesterday, our Chair @ShippingButters & Impact Director @TinaBarnesSea represented @Seafarers_KGFS at @trinityhouse_uk MN Medal Award Ceremony where HRH The Princess Royal presented medals to 11 recipients for their meritorious service. Congratulations to all worthy recipients!🎖️
