HISTORIC WIN FOR WORKERS ACROSS THE WORLD! Today, the International Court of Justice delivered a landmark Advisory Opinion affirming that the Right to Strike is protected under International Labour Organization Convention No. 87 on Freedom of Association. 1/ By a decisive majority, the world’s highest court confirmed what workers and trade unions have always known: the right to withdraw labour is inseparable from worker dignity, collective bargaining, and freedom of association. These rights cannot be separated. 2/ For doctors, healthcare workers, and all trade unionists under Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union, this ruling is a major legal and moral vindication. The right to strike remains an essential safeguard in the fight for fair pay, safe working conditions, dignity at work, and stronger public healthcare systems. 3/ We welcome this progressive and historic decision. It strengthens international legal protection for workers everywhere and reinforces the legitimacy of collective bargaining struggles in Kenya and across the globe. Solidarity forever. 🇰🇪✊🏾

🌎 #Solidarity across borders! KMPDU Secretary General Dr. @Davji and Deputy Secretary General Dr. @MiskellahMD are currently representing Kenyan healthcare workers at the Jobs with Justice National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Yesterday, the leadership joined international labour movements in a powerful and peaceful demonstration demanding fair wages, dignified working conditions, and an end to corporate greed. Whether in Nairobi or Atlanta, the struggle for workers’ rights, social justice, and strong public systems remains the same. When workers unite globally, systems transform! ✊🏾 #JobsWithJustice #KMPDUSolidarity #WorkersRights #GlobalLabourMovement

"Woke up this morning with my mind stayed on freedom..." 🎵 Yesterday in Atlanta, Georgia, alongside my brother Dr. Dennis Miskellah and hundreds of passionate labor organizers at the Jobs with Justice National Convening, we took to the streets in a powerful showcase of global worker solidarity. The challenges working people face — from poverty wages to systemic neglect — are universal. Our response must be equally universal. Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with international allies reinforces a fundamental truth: the fight for dignity, fair compensation, and a just society knows no boundaries. We return to the table stronger, inspired, and more resolute in our mission. Viva! ✊🏾 #JwJ2026 #WorkersReviveDemocracy #LaborSolidarity #KMPDU

Better care for patients begins with better support for the doctors who serve them. The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) is pushing for a 55% salary increase, the employment of 3,000 additional doctors to address critical staffing shortages, and the protection of medical training standards to safeguard quality healthcare for every Kenyan. Doctors cannot deliver world-class care while working under overstretched, underfunded, and delayed systems. Fair pay, timely remuneration, adequate staffing, and dignified working conditions are not privileges, they are essential to saving lives and strengthening our healthcare system. When we invest in doctors, we invest in patients. It is time to build a healthcare system that truly prioritizes life, dignity, and quality care for all Kenyans.

🌱 A RENEWED #MANDATE, A UNITED FRONT – REFLECTIONS ON THE 10TH ADC Yesterday, the halls of Safari Park Hotel hosted more than a meeting; they hosted the 10th Annual Delegates Conference (ADC), a defining moment in our Union’s democratic journey. The Conference brought together delegates from across the country, reaffirming the unity and shared purpose that continues to anchor our profession, even in the face of significant challenges. A key highlight was the formal ratification of the leadership team elected on 2nd April 2026, marking the completion of the electoral process and the reaffirmation of the mandate entrusted by members across all 47 counties. The ADC then resolved a series of key policy, governance, and labour priorities that will guide our work in the period ahead: SECTION I: LABOUR RELATIONS & COMPENSATION • CBA 2025–2029: Proposed 55% salary adjustment aligned to inflation trends, with negotiations to be concluded within 90 days • Implementation of salary adjustments within 21 days, alongside settlement of outstanding arrears for 2024/2025 in line with court determinations • Full medical insurance coverage for all doctors under both National and County Governments • Settlement of all outstanding arrears owed to doctors under the Ministry of Health SECTION II: EMPLOYMENT & POLICY ADVOCACY • Annual employment of 3,000 doctors and structured absorption of interns into permanent and pensionable terms • Advocacy for repeal of Section 5A of the Universities Act to safeguard medical training standards • Adoption of positions on the Quality of Health and Patient Safety Bill (2025) and the HRH Policy to address systemic gaps in devolution and workforce welfare SECTION III: INTERNAL GOVERNANCE & CONSTITUTION • Completion of the ongoing constitutional review process by ADC 2027 • Strengthening of Secretariat efficiency through shared deployment across Union structures • Adoption of the 2026 budget and appointment of the external auditor • Enforcement of governance measures to protect Union branding and institutional integrity STRENGTHENING OVERSIGHT: TRUSTEE ELECTIONS The Conference also successfully concluded Trustee Elections, with three candidates emerging from a competitive field of nine. The process strictly adhered to the two-thirds gender principle, reinforcing compliance, transparency, and inclusivity in Union oversight structures. As we conclude this 10th ADC, we reaffirm that the strength of this Union lies not in office or position, but in the solidarity and unity of its members.

Today, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all candidates who have been cleared to contest and those elected unopposed in the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers National Elections 2026 cycle. Special commendation to those who have earned the confidence of members through uncontested victories, a clear reflection of trust in your leadership, service, and dedication to the profession. To those heading into competitive races, I wish you a peaceful, issue-based, and democratic contest worthy of the union’s proud legacy. Strong professional unions remain vital pillars in defending workers’ rights, advancing healthcare standards, and strengthening our health systems. May this electoral process further unite clinical officers across the country and inspire visionary leadership for the years ahead. Congratulations once again, and best wishes to all.
