One of my favorite drills for stopping the bull rush. Poor application for the two we can see though, which you notice the coach thinks too as he’s doing some talking after the drill. The guy on the left starts it right and the defender does a nice job, but he never re-sets and stops the bull rush, just keeps giving ground. The next guy is pre-set in a winning position with his hands and then the defender doesn’t challenge him enough. Wonder if the coach made them do it again.

Assuming this is the case, the Raiders benefit in two ways here: 1) They move up 20 spots in the backend of the draft 2) They were prepared to outright release Smith, taking on an $18.5M dead cash/cap hit in 2026. $1.3M of that would have been credited back to them in 2027 based on offset language. Now, they realize those savings in 2026.
