The war with Iran has shown the energy independence, achieved with wind/solar/batteries/geothermal, is the only way to ensure long term affordability goals. Blue state governors should be leading on this and not bowing to the gas lobby.

California is proof you don’t have to choose between a strong economy and clean energy. The world’s 4th largest economy has run on clean power 9 out of 10 days, while cutting greenhouse gas emissions 21% and growing 81%.

The cost of grid-scale solar plus batteries has become so cheap that spreading solar power out over 24 hours is now cost-competive with building new natural gas plants in many cases. ember-energy.org/latest-insight…

Gas utilities in Boston get paid $7 million dollars a mile to replace an old gas pipe with a new pipe in Boston. You can see why gas utilities would choose that option over being paid $20,000 a mile to repair the pipe. And who ultimately pays those costs? Anyone with a gas bill.
Mothers Out Front Massachusetts@MOF_Mass

GSEP=one of the biggest cost pressures on MA gas bills. Utility spending has TRIPLED since 2014, reaching $901M on new pipes this year. Every dollar directly raises your rates. Legislators need to address what’s really making energy unaffordable #mapoli vist.ly/4i7vj

In 3 yrs this #solar installation at an Arkansas high school turned the district’s budget from a $250K deficit to a $1.8 million surplus. They're using the surplus to pay teachers more We have the solutions. Implement them. #ActOnClimate #ClimateAction #climate #NoWarNoWarming

While India invests in clean energy, #Mapoli House energy bill will roll back our MA 2030 climate goals, clean energy through the RPS, & MassSave incentives, all the while expanding expensive pipelines & raising energy bills. Call ur MA House Rep & tell them you oppose the H 4744

@repmarkcusack and #Mapoli clean energy is less expensive, healthier and helps us meet our 2030 climate goals. The new House energy bill subsidizing fossil fuels and erasing our 2030 climate goals will only put Mass behind in the global market. Vote no.
Mark Z. Jacobson@mzjacobson

"The surge in storage is meeting with even faster growth of solar in the state. Together, solar+batteries have eliminated >37% of fossil gas use on the state’s main grid in just 2y" @CAgovernor touts CA’s record battery energy gains at climate conference latimes.com/environment/st…

This is truly mind-blowing: Norway has gone from near-zero sales of non‑emitting battery electric vehicles to now close to 100% of all new passenger car sales—achieved in about 13 years. What makes this transformation remarkable isn’t just the headline number, but how it happened: - Clear long‑term policy signals (tax incentives, toll exemptions, parking perks) that made EVs the rational default. - Serious charging infrastructure—fast chargers along highways and dense urban coverage—reducing range anxiety. - Collaboration across government, utilities, automakers, and consumers to remove friction at every step. - A consistent focus on total cost of ownership, not just sticker price.

If you purchased your heat pump before 2019, go to your electric utility and find out how you can be enrolled in the new heat pump rate.
Massachusetts Energy and Environmental Affairs@MassEEA

Over 100,000 Massachusetts households using heat pumps, including @EEASecretary's, have been auto-enrolled in a new reduced rate. This rate that @MassGovernor called for in her Energy Affordability Agenda will save customers about $500 this winter heating season.

Public transport often treats bikes as a luxury—or worse a competitor—but without them leaves revenue on the table. For 25 years, the Dutch have extended their railways’ reach through (300,000) parking spaces and (25,000) shared bikes. The result? A doubling of train ridership.
