The discussions focused on strengthening security cooperation, technical assistance, and training for Somalia’s security institutions, including the Police, Darwish forces, and Coast Guard, as well as reviewing EUCAP’s support strategy to align with the priorities of the Federal Government of Somalia. The meeting reviewed institutional performance, financial & administrative reforms, HR systems, strategic priorities, and measures to strengthen coordination, accountability, and delivery of the Ministry’s core security mandate.

Director General of @MoIS_FGS, Mr. Mohamed Shire (@Moshireh), today held a consultative meeting with directors of independent media outlets to strengthen cooperation, enhance information sharing, discuss challenges facing the media sector, and reaffirm the importance of press freedom, public awareness, and constructive engagement.

The Director General of @MoIS_FGS, Mr. Mohamed Shire (@Moshireh), today opened a joint MoIS–SJGAP workshop in Mogadishu, bringing together department directors to develop an integrated 6-month workplan focused on institutional & workforce development, inter-agency coordination, policy alignment, and digital modernization. The workshop also focused on identifying priority actions, implementation timelines, departmental responsibilities, and technical support required to strengthen the Ministry’s performance, coordination, accountability, and public service delivery.

The Minister of Internal Security launched a 10-day training program in Mogadishu for instructors of the Somali Police Force, aimed at improving their skills and the quality of police training. Funded by the Government of Japan and held at the General Kaahiye Police Training School, the program is part of a joint initiative involving @aussom_ , the African Union mission in Somalia, and focuses on strengthening police capacity and improving security services. The initiative will also be gradually expanded to regional states to enhance police effectiveness at regional and district levels.

The DG underscored the importance of institutional coordination, accountability, and strengthened cooperation between government institutions and international partners to ensure the protection of civilians remains central to Somalia’s security and stabilization efforts. The Director General of the Ministry of Internal Security, Mr. @Moshireh, met with senior representatives from @UNDPSomalia to accelerate the Joint Police Programme (JPP) – Phase II. Discussions focused on strengthening the Somali Police Force, improving service delivery, and increasing accountability across the security sector. Participants included Mr. Evariste Sibomana, Programme Manager at UNDP Somalia, and Mr. Petrit Skenderi, Project Manager for JPP. Both parties agreed to expedite implementation and achieve measurable security results.

President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, met with Somalia’s Minister of Internal Security, Gen. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail, (@Senfartaag ) in Ouagadougou. The Somali minister delivered a message from President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and highlighted efforts to strengthen international cooperation, especially in security and counterterrorism. Both nations emphasized the need for closer collaboration in intelligence sharing, training, and joint efforts against terrorism.

The Director General of the Ministry of Internal Security, Mr. Mohamed Hassan Shire (@Moshireh ) today received the U.S. Senior Advisor for East Africa on Transnational Crime for discussions on strengthening cooperation in internal security, countering violent extremism, combating human trafficking and organised crime, and enhancing coordination against cross-border security threats. The meeting reaffirmed the importance of sustained partnership in strengthening Somalia’s security institutions and advancing national stability and public safety.

Director General of the Ministry of Internal Security, Mr. @Moshireh , today held a high-level meeting with Mr. Fran O’Grady, Chief of @UNMAS , to advance cooperation on mine action, civilian protection, and Somalia’s national security priorities. The discussions focused on strengthening the operational capacity of the Somali Police Force (SPF), enhancing support to the Somali Explosive Management Authority (SEMA), and accelerating efforts to protect communities from explosive threats. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding public awareness initiatives and strengthening national institutions to support lasting peace, stability, and public safety across Somalia.
