“It cost the state , and by extension, taxpayers an average of $36,106 to incarcerate a single person in Michigan in 2017.” - @freep Minimum per pupil for each MI student = $7,630. What does it say when we spend $42 per day to educate our kids and $99 a day incarcerate a person?

The Michigan Legislature is proposing reducing the amount of state income tax that schools receive by $189 million to fund roads. They suggest internet sales tax will make up the difference. This is not true. This is a reduction to the school aid fund.
