Dr R Chandrashekhar, Strategic Analyst, who participated in our webinar on ‘Sediment Management’ on 08 April 2026, provided a bureaucratic and policy-oriented perspective on the topic, emphasising the need for institutional oversight and better data integration. Key takeaways from his expert remarks include: ◆︎ The Fragmentation Problem: A major challenge identified is the lack of coordination among stakeholders. Currently, responsibilities for river sedimentation and deep-ocean surveys are split among different ministries, leading to siloed operations. ◆︎ Policy: There is a call for a dedicated agency or institutional owner for seabed and sediment management.
