Several of my british friends have been using VPNs almost nonstop for a year straight because of the Online Safety Act banning being able to access basic information they could have looked up on Google. The OSA banned forums on hamsters. This is not about protecting children.

@fwmann1e Allen says after the fight with Immortal that they are upgrading the comms. It’s not unresonable to assume the upgrade happened and they all received the communicator implant before the fight

Did I miss something, or why is everybody suddenly able to use telepathy in space? I thought Allen had to act as the mediator for that. Are the Viltrumites using some secret tech or what?

This video was the inspiration for Halo Reach's "Long Night of Solace" mission. I remember us watching this in the office and being blown away that our engine would allow a near seamless sky transition from surface atmosphere to space. It immediately sparked the thought "What if players fought their way to a launch facility, hopped in a fighter, launched seamlessly into space, did some space fighter combat, land on a ship, and then fight the covenant while overlooking the planet and surface battle that you just launched from." I originally proposed that we do it all in gameplay w no launch pad cutscene (I had a technical proposal to make this work), but in the end we decided to add the cutscene for dramatic effect, although I still think it would have been cooler all in gameplay 😅 youtube.com/watch?v=b__BO4…

@LarryBundyJr Battlefield 3. Was a good game in its own right but threw away a lot of what made Battlefield 2 great. To this day no other Battlefield has managed to scratch the BF2 itch.

Can anyone think of any game sequels that were remarkably WORSE than the original? Usually the sequel is the original game perfected, and the third, while good, isn't quite as great as the second.

I know the chances of it happening are next to none but I wish @valvesoftware would release native Apple Silicon versions of their games. I really miss having Left 4 Dead, Half-Life and Portal on Mac. Would love to be able to play them again.

things that 99% of pokemon players have never achieved. game freak in 2006, added a star system to your trainer card in pokémon diamond and pearl. the card would change colors as you earned stars, finally turning black when you got all five. the stars were awarded as followed: - first star: awarded for beating the elite four. - second star: earned by winning a master rank contest. this meant making perfect poffins and maxing out contest stats across all ranks. - third star: gained in the underground by snagging 50 flags from other players’ secret bases. after nintendo wi-fi shut down, this one became brutal most people needed two consoles linked together to finish it. - fourth star: unlocked by completing the national pokédex (all 493 pokémon). - fifth star: the hardest one, get a 100-win streak in the battle tower. the ai loved landing critical hits, freezes, and focus band shenanigans, especially after battle 50. one loss and you had to start the streak all over again. black 5 stars trainer card was the ultimate flex for completionists. in generation viii trainer card was replaced by league card and in generation ix by profile app in rotom phone.

I hope this is a physical release otherwise, will be another pass.

@mrjinjin2612 The Dreamcast has built in support for dual analog and some retail releases like Quake 3 even have it programmed in the game. It’s also benficial for homebrew releases. I think it’s a welcome addition. I’d like to see the input latency tests though. Never got a reply about it

PlayStation is facing huge backlash over its new age check rules for UK users, some users say their console is almost unusable now To comply with the Online Safety Act, Sony now requires players to prove their age using a face scan with Yoti, a government ID, or a phone number. This is needed to use voice chat, party chats, messaging, broadcasting, and multiplayer features on PS5 and PS4 consoles. Single-player games can still be played without checking, but social and chat features will be locked from June 2026. Sony has had major data leaks before, and Yoti has been fined for data problems. Long-time players are asking why they must prove their age now. Some UK adults do not want face scans saying this breaks consumer rights by removing features people already paid for.
