@ClayWendler @burackbobby_ But also the other way around too, the REASON for the probation violation has no bearing on whether or not a probation violation is a violation of the NFL PCP.
English

@MRReedJr @burackbobby_ Yes. The NFL's rules have no bearing on the probationary rules of the city, or indeed the contract Rashee agreed to.

I've been digging into whether the NFL will punish Rashee Rice for his probation violation. Here's what I've gathered:
The general consensus is that there is "no precedent" for this.
On one hand, he's technically serving time for a crime for which the NFL already suspended him. The 30-day jail sentence was already agreed upon; it was just expedited after his violation.
On the other hand, the probation violation is "new." Under the PCP, anything that makes the NFL look bad can technically trigger a suspension.
Back to the first hand, the NFL no longer suspends players for THC, which is the reason Rice was found in violation.
Back to the other, he could still be suspended for violating probation, regardless of what caused it.
Everyone I've heard from seems genuinely unsure about how this will play out, given the issues above.
What's interesting is that Rice will likely either avoid a suspension entirely or face a repeat-offender suspension of more than six games.
There doesn't appear to be much middle ground. I say Rice either plays Week 1 or is out until November.

@ClayWendler @burackbobby_ I agree that the probation violation itself appears to be a PCP violation under the current rules. The nature of the crime that caused the violation is irrelevant. Therefore, whether or not the NFL suspends for THC usage is irrelevant.
English

@burackbobby_ He's violated the PCP twice. Isn't that grounds for banishment?
English

@zeemdead @corryjoel 0 negotiations. In fact, if I was them, I'd cut him now.
English

. @corryjoel assuming rice does his time and remains on good behavior thereafter, what kind of approach to negotiations do you anticipate kansas city having?
English

@MillerLight19 @MattVerderame Allen is the only option. Diggs is likely out of reach from a cap space standpoint & also a locker room problem
English

@MattVerderame Now it’s time to bring in Diggs or Allen
I don’t care

How’d the offensive chemistry coming along Andy?
“Good, guys are doing a nice job. Everybody is working in. Once we get our top receiver out of jail we’ll be ready to roll”

#Breaking: Chiefs WR Rashee Rice violated his probation after testing positive for marijuana. Rice has been ordered to serve 30 days in jail, meaning he will miss #Chiefs OTAs & Mandatory Mini-Camp. @KSHB41 is working to learn more.
English

@Red_taxi0 @MattVerderame @tuckerdfranklin Jefferson isn't going anywhere & even if he was available, the Chiefs can't afford him
English

@MattVerderame @tuckerdfranklin I’m so tired of this, if a contact year doesn’t motivate him, what will? We should trade for Justin Jefferson, pat deserves better.
English

@Tyler_1994_ @MattVerderame Diggs is a locker room problem. Hill is still injured & likely won't be available until November...and also a potential locker room problem.
English

@MattVerderame Chiefs might actually prefer this guy in jail until training camp to prevent his dumbass from doing anything else.
Joking obviously but sheeeeshh.
Need to go get Diggs or Hill like yesterday
English

@NFL_DovKleiman Whitlock is #1... INFINITELY EASY choice. The 2nd would be either Bayless or Portnoy. Since I have to make a choice, I'll flip a coin & it comes up... Portnoy.

The internal rotation on his left knee looks pretty damn good to me.
If he’s golfing, he’s playing Week 1.

@SorenPetro @klseaboldt Hulu is owned by Disney & the Fox stuff is on there because Disney also owns the rights to Fox Television stuff, but not the movie studio stuff. Peacock is owned by Comcast/NBC, & Paramount+ is CBS.

@yankeedraft 7… Aisle seat with Dave Grohl on one side, Taylor Swift on the other, and Kamala Harris behind me?
Easy call…
English

@SRuhle @hwinkler4real Yes, the Justice Dept during the Biden administration did argue against the Jet Blue/Spirit merger on the grounds of anti-trust violation. However, the FINAL decision was made by a Federal judge appointed by Pres. Reagan in 1985. Tell the ENTIRE story!

@stephenasmith The WRONG place to put a poll like this, @stephenasmith

@glezak Let’s stop with the 3 out of 5 ratings, and just say ,”There’s a good chance of severe weather this afternoon.” Last Friday caused people to flip out because it was so overblown, and it was just a storm.
