I’m lying here awake at 2:49… wondering how I’m going to make this work. How I’m going to feed them on Sunday. How I’m going to keep going when the bills just keep piling up. How I’m supposed to carry all of this when my heart already feels so heavy. Because they are counting on me… and I don’t know how to fail them. I wish people could see what I see — the hunger, the waiting, the quiet hope in their eyes every Sunday when we arrive. That one meal… it means everything to them. I’m so tired… But I will still get up, I will still try, I will still fight for them — I just don’t know how I’m going to do it this time. If you’ve ever thought of helping… please, this is one of those moments where it truly matters. 🐾

People see a post and think they know the full story… they don’t. I work a full-time job, 45 hours a week. I do not take a cent from any donations — every single rand goes to the animals. The food, the vet bills, the sterilisations, the vaccinations… all of it. So when someone sends me a message telling me to “go get a job” and stop “begging”, it breaks something inside me. Because what you don’t see is the hours after work… the late nights, the early mornings, the emotional weight of what these animals go through. You don’t see the suffering we witness, the ones we try to save, the ones we sometimes lose. This is not about money. This is about lives. No one is forced to support us — but please, don’t tear down someone who is trying to make a difference in a world where so many look away. I am human. I feel. And words like that hurt more than you will ever understand. But I will still show up. For them. Every single time. 🐾

Ghaaz, I'm writing a school assignment from a hospital bed. It's due tomorrow (already an extension), I only remembered today that I wasn't finished. I don't have my laptop to finish the work I had started. Leandro was at school in the morning, so I couldn't get Uber Parcel to bring my laptop. Thankfully, when Leandro packed my hospital bag yesterday, he included my tablet. So I started over. I know I'll finish before tomorrow's deadline because I have nothing else to do in this hospital. But wow 😭. The anxiety.
